NFL Week 15 Power Rankings: The Cowboys Barely Moved And The Seahawks Are Still In First

NFL Power Rankings

Our Week 15 NFL Power Rankings are here. The Seattle Seahawks lost to the San Francisco 49ers… so they dropped out of the top spot, right? And the Denver Broncos beat the Tennessee Titans by a lot, so they move up too! And the New England Patriots almost lost… so they suck!

(That’s not how these Power Rankings work. It is how many Power Rankings work, however.)

These rankings are based mainly on betting odds, approximating the power ratings made by oddsmakers. One game typically has a fairly small effect on the numbers, as numbers do not fall prey to recency bias. So, understand that these rankings are not my rankings, nor are they SportsGrid’s rankings. These rankings are very similar to the ones that make point spreads. As I will reiterate all year, I’m not an expert, because nobody is an expert.

Also, be sure to check out my in-depth analysis of who’s gonna make the AFC and NFC playoffs.

whoever writes these needs to be fired

Haha, I write them, but you don’t appear to have read the intro, friend.

    Agreed… Do Better Mr. Rudnitski

I am talking about the repetitive comments each week, maybe change it up a little bit…

fair enough, but what i am going for is to sum up the general opinion of most teams, and oftentimes that stays constant week-to-week. i probably changed around half.

the whole purpose is to give readers an understanding of where oddsmakers rank each team, because most power rankings are just useless compilations of who won and lost each week

Thanks for the feedback, I understand the evaluations, and enjoy mthe snark that follows. I just thought it would be nice to see a little variety…

    Algorithm-based Rankings have Denver 1st, Seattle 2nd, and SFO 3rd from Momentum-based True Win%

    Patriots are overrated

  • A fan of the 1st Amendment

As a Seahawks fan, we didn’t play our best game, but I am sick to death of playing the opposing team AND the officials. I mean how do you hold a guy down and sit on his head and NOT get a foul? And that’s just one example It’s so blatant it’s ridiculous. And you can bet if we do get to the Superbowl and play the Broncos, we will get screwed AGAIN! The NFL will want Peyton (who I like) to win. Just like they wanted Bettis, who was on his way out to win. Then they can come out 2 years after the fact and admit they blew it like they did last time.
