Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo Both Red-Carded, Projectiles Rain As Copa Del Rey Ends In Disarray

Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid might be compared to the Bad News Bears beating the Yankees for the championship, and even featured a fight at the end. Along the way, both Cristiano Ronaldo and manager Jose Mourinho were sent off, and fans took the opportunity to shower the field with debris and at least one flaming object.

In other words, just a typical ‘His Majesty the King’s Football Cup’, or in Spanish, Copa del Rey.

With six minutes to play in extra time, Ronaldo was exiled for his foot to the face of Atletico’s Gabi. But was there actual contact? Observe the gif above. Daily Mirror:

Reacting to a clattering challenge from behind by Atletico’s Gabi, the Portuguese goal machine twisted and lashed out with his foot as he fell backwards to the turf and apparently caught his marker on the nose.

His dismissal sparked furious scenes on the touchline with both benches emptying and several seconds of pushing and shoving, with some punches also seemingly thrown.

During the melee, Atletico keeper Thibault Courtois – on loan from Chelsea – dropped to the ground in his penalty area, with missiles seen to be flying from the supporters behind him.

In the dying seconds, Gabi was also sent off, but Atletico held on to win, 2-1.

Wait? Your main video image just show’s ronaldo clipping Godin’s nose, yet the ronaldo was the one taken out from the back by godin……Pathetic way to convince people that it was all Ronaldo’s fault.

Quit your day job and become a comedian, because that s*** was funny.

It was Gabi, not Godin, and he saw a card for his tackle. Ronaldo however didn’t see any cards for kicking Juanfran in the leg when the ball was more than 2 metres away and at least Gabi made it look like he was going for the ball. Ronaldo however kicked up as he was falling down, even if both were intentionally trying to hurt each other, Ronaldo made no attempt to hide his offence…twice. Fair red and perhaps too late.

If one watches what happened afterwards, it’s amazing how football is played nowadays. Gabi goes for treatment following the alleged nose kick. He returns with a piece of cotton in his right nostril. A few minutes later, the cotton piece either falls or whatever, then he returns it to his left nostril this time. Very pathetic..

a red card isn’t just shown if contact is made, it’s also given based on ill-intent. in reality, it’s very obvious that ronaldo barely touched his nose and godin was trying to sway the ref’s decision (which i agree is also dirty)… but it was very clear that ronaldo intentionally kicked upwards while falling, and he was trying to hurt godin. it’s deserved red card, especially given his antics earlier in the match.
