The Portland Timbers’ Entire Crowd Singing The National Anthem Is Fantastic
The Portland Timbers have a well-documented tradition of letting their fans sing the national anthem before games. (Noted curmudgeon and Around the Horn contributor Bob Ryan hates it, because he apparently hates things that are awesome.) Last night, Timbers fans were at it again, belting out the Star-Spangled Banner before their team’s first home game of the MLS season. Portland would beat the Philadelphia Union 3-1, and were no doubt powered by the pre-game awesomeness. Video here:
