EURO 2020 Updated Bracket, Picks and Predictions
The Knock-Out Stage Matchups
After a fantastic group stage, Euro 2020 will jump into the knock-out round on Saturday, where some big-time soccer is about to be played. The brackets look like this. Wales and Denmark open the second tier, followed by the FanDuel Sportsbook third favorite to win it all, Italy (+600) taking on Austria. The Netherlands take on the Czech Republic while Belgium will face Ronaldo and Portugal. Croatia draws Spain while the French and Swiss square off, and Sweden meets Ukraine.
How about this for a heavy hitter on Tuesday? England, tied with Italy at +600 on FanDuel’s Sportsbook to win the tournament, takes on Germany, just one slot behind them at +750. This one is razor-thin as the English are slight favorites at +145 while the Germans sit at +190 to pull out the win in the first round of the knockouts. This is going to be the most delicious of the knockout matchups.
A Belgium-Netherlands final is not out of the realm of possibility. Holland sits at +800 to become Euro champs while Belgium is right there with them at +900. Italy and France will move on over Austria and Switzerland. The Italians are -220 on the moneyline, while France is a slightly bigger favorite at -230 to get through to the next round. France is the best team in the world. Croatia looks poised to upset Spain and have a ton of value at +550 to down the Spaniards. Sweden has been a good team in this tournament as well and should slide by the Ukrainians. That Welsh team has been tough, but Denmark is for real.
England will blow it like they always do and have the toughest first-round matchup a team could ask for with Germany. In fact, that’s the worst thing that England could have ever got. Now, Germany has not played well. We saw, they almost blew it yesterday against Hungary, but Germany could show up against England and send them out in the first round, and you wouldn’t have enough buckets for all the tears that’ll rain down in England if they go out in the first round of the knockout stage.
Ronaldo, by the way, the top scorer of the group stage. He had five goals, and the guy just never slows down. All he ever does is score big goals, and Portugal will need some against Belgium, where they are +210 dogs.
