West Virginia actually passed a law in March 2018, two months before the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was overturned.
Still, new players are always entering the fray in West Virginia, sportsbooks are getting updated, and some are even closing down shop.
Here, I’ll discuss the most notable West Virginia sports betting sites, including overviews, banking methods, how to start playing, the WV sports betting apps, and more.

My favorite feature here is the site’s betting guide, Betting 101. My favorite part about this guide is that there’s text and audio content for general sports betting and individual sports. Another standout feature I routinely use is Parlay Hub. This feature lets you sort wagers by sport, betting market, and odds. From here, you can build your ideal parlay.
Lastly, as you may know from the early 2010s, FanDuel offers daily fantasy sports, which allow you to engage with players in a way that goes beyond sports betting.
I had no issue using this mobile app. It has more than 1.5 million downloads on the Apple App Store, which is the most popular betting app in the United States. I didn’t experience any issues with buffering or lag, and navigating the site is incredibly easy, with buttons along the bottom that help you navigate to the promotions, homepage, and betting history.
BetMGM Sportsbook WV
At BetMGM Sportsbook WV has one of the best welcome bonuses in the country. BetMGM also offers other promotions, though they’re not as common as I’d like. There’s the Swing For The Fences free-to-play baseball game that you can play to earn more bonus bets.
As for features, Easy Parlay and the pre-built Same Game Parlays make this the go-to spot for players who like to enjoy parlays.
Easy Parlay is a page where you can sort bets by sport and bet types and quickly add games to a betslip. You can decide to bet on the pre-built SGPs, but I often use them to generate ideas for my own SGPs.
The BetMGM Sportsbook mobile app is fantastic. Like FanDuel and others on this list, it is a carbon copy of the desktop site, eliminating any learning curve from playing on two platforms.
The organization of the betting app is fantastic; you can use the search bar, check out the betting markets through a collapsible menu next to the search bar, see the promotions, and also use the menu across the bottom to get back to the homepage, a page dedicated to the promotions, the online casino, and more.
On top of Caesars welcome offer there are additional offers to look forward to here, as well as Caesars is known for its profit boosts and ample boosted odds bets. Sure, other sports betting sites in West Virginia offer boosted odds bets, but none offer the amount Caesars does—I’ve seen them reach as high as 60, and they cover all sports. In addition to the boosted odds bets, my favorite features here are Fire Bets and the partnership with Genius Sports. The partnership allows for Caesars to stream select NFL games. As for Fire Bets, this works with live betting, too, as you’ll bet on things within a game that are immediately happening. For example, you can bet on the result of the next play in an NFL game. On the mobile app, you can quickly see how many boosted odds bets are when you open in. Additionally, you can see Quick Picks, which are pre-built Same Game Parlay options with information about the odds and how much you’d win with a specific wager amount. Below those, you’ll sometimes find promoted boosted odds bets. For example, when I was on the site, I was able to bet on Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes to go over 6.5 strikeouts and Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani to have more than 1.5 bases. It was boosted to +300, and the maximum wager I could make on it was $100. At the bottom of the app, you can quickly visit the online casino, see your bet history, see promotions, and more. I find this mobile app to be among the best in the state. New players at DraftKings Sportsbook will get access to numerous offers, but the welcome bonus here allows you bonus bets when you place your first wager. Other offers include parlay boosts, profit boosts, odds boosts, and more. All players can take advantage of these. My favorite parts about DraftKings Sportsbook are the DK Social page and the player props. DK Social is like a social media site baked into DraftKings. You can create betting groups with friends to see what everyone is betting on and what other bettors are interested in. I loved playing DraftKings daily fantasy sports in the early 2010s (this is still available), and the player props are somewhat like fantasy sports that you’re wagering on the outcome of individual players. The player prop markets here are deep regarding the number of markets and players available per game. As for the mobile app, it’s among the best. The promotions are displayed at the top of the app, and a menu along the top makes it easy to navigate to pages like DK Social or examine your DK Crowns balance. DK Crowns are DraftKings Sportsbook WV form of rewards. These can be redeemed for bonus bets. The Fanatics Sportsbook WV mobile app is easy to use, and the navigation feels great. The top of the app has a menu for sports, live betting, parlays, and promotions. There’s a search bar right below that, followed by featured events, featured parlays, and bets you can make to get up to 10% back in FanCash. What’s FanCash? Good question—it’s the rewards program at Fanatics, which is the best rewards program of any online West Virginia betting site. Fanatics isn’t just a sportsbook but an online retailer selling sports merchandise. With FanCash, you can redeem it for bonus bets or site credit to make purchases at Fanatics. Fanatics also offers a withdrawal tracker, so you can always see exactly where your winnings are in the withdrawal process. The welcome bonus is creative—you’ll receive a matched bet of up to $100 each day over the first ten days of having an account. My favorite part of playing at BetRivers is the live betting interface. It has plenty of betting markets, but it also has live streaming on select markets, a live tracker for games that don’t have live streaming that’s updated quickly, and plenty of stats to quickly look at to make informed wagers. The BetRivers mobile app opens with an advertisement for the welcome offer, but you can quickly access the sportsbook with links at the bottom of the app. These include the casino, promotions, customer support, and the betslip. At the top of the app, you’ll quickly find a link to House Specials, a term BetRivers uses to describe boosted odds bets. Next to that is Prop Central, a page similar to Easy Parlay at BetMGM where you can quickly view player props. I always enjoy using the mobile app. The stylized user interface design makes it stand out from the rest, and I’m aware of no technical issues. Yes, sports betting is legal in West Virginia. It all started after SB 415 was passed overwhelmingly in the state Senate and House of Delegates in March 2018, two months before PASPA was overturned. From there, the first West Virginia betting apps went live in August 2019. There are nearly double-digit West Virginia sports betting apps to choose from, and below, I’ll list them, provide the mobile app platforms they’re available on, the welcome bonus, and when it went live. These apps allow you to wager from anywhere in the state instead of needing to be at your computer or somewhere in person. Below, I’ll go over how to use these apps at first so you don’t run into any issues. Once funds are loaded into your account, it’s time to peruse the betting markets, add things to your betslip, and place your wager. I’ll also note that there are occasions where you may need to provide proof of identity, such as a copy of your government-issued ID. This is typically done if you’ve moved recently or your name has changed. The number of available betting markets differs from site to site, but below, I’ll list the ones I see most often in West Virginia. You may also find more niche markets and can expect betting markets for special events like the Olympics, the World Cup, and much more. College sports betting is available, but you cannot wager on player props. You can wager on in-state teams, though. As for ways to bet on these markets, point spread, moneyline, totals, parlays, props, and more. Being able to deposit and withdraw funds is vital to a successful sports betting experience because if you can’t give or receive funds, there’s no sense in trying to play there. Like the betting markets, below are the ones I see most often, but this could change depending on where you play. While some sites offer these methods for deposits and withdrawals, I’ve found that some require you to use them as deposits before you can access them for withdrawals. My favorite part about sports betting is being able to take it on the go, no matter where I am, as long as I’m in a legal state like West Virginia.
