Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings Predictions and Picks
I’m willing to buck the oddsmakers and fall on my sword to back the under in this game. I can’t make out the thought process behind sending this game out with a total of 237.5. And the fact that it’s even bet up is even more perplexing. I don’t see where the points are coming from in this matchup.
Part of the reason we’ve seen a fair share of games go over the total for both teams is that they’re often the worse of the two teams on the court, and when they come up against a good team, they don’t tend to offer much resistance if any.
My power ratings have Sacramento a little more than two points better than Minnesota. So the gap between these two teams isn’t as wide as the eight games in their win-loss record. Again, I don’t see where the points are coming from in this game to warrant such a high total.
For example, Minnesota is ranked 26th in the league in offensive efficiency. And I think it’s even more telling that four of their last five head-to-head meetings have also gone under the total.
My model projects this total at 228.6, so I’m getting considerable value in this spot on the under. I’ll be the first to take a mea culpa if I’m wrong, but I’m going to stick my neck out and fade the bookmakers on this high total.
The Pick: Under 239.5
