What Are Clemson's National Championship Odds Going Into Week 13?

The Clemson Tigers had a down year in 2021, but they’re right back in the thick of the College Football Playoff picture. Dabo Swinney’s club has looked impressive at times but concerning at others, which summarizes the overall results that Clemson has picked up this year.

2022 Record: 10-1

It hasn’t been the most challenging schedule through eleven games for the Clemson Tigers. Quarterback drama was the headline after DJ Uiagalelei was benched in favor of Cade Klubnik against Syracuse, which helped the Tigers come from behind. Even with Klubnik coming to the rescue, Uiagalelei was called upon to start against Notre Dame.

Clemson’s victory over Syracuse is one of their top wins, but it’s not that impressive if you look at some of the other top teams’ resumes. Tight victories over ranked opponents like NC State and Wake Forest have been the team’s calling card, but it’s hard to get passionate about those wins if you’re on the College Football Playoff Committee. You can only beat who’s on your schedule, and the Tigers had done that before losing to the Fighting Irish.

The offense has been a significant problem for the Tigers, which continued in their first loss of the season at Notre Dame. The team put up 14 points and couldn’t find any consistency, which looks to be the team’s demise as they head into the final week of the regular season.

It wasn’t their most impressive victory of the season, but the Tigers stayed at just one loss after defeating Louisville 31-16. Even if the offense wasn’t great overall, the defense did its job and was up to the challenge.

There wasn’t much to dislike about the Clemson Tigers’ beatdown of Miami. They won the game by 30 points and are still in the College Football Playoff race conversation.

In the Polls/CFP Rankings

Poll This Week Last Week
CFP Rankings 8 9
AP Top 25 7 9
Coaches Poll 8 9

The season’s fourth College Football Playoff Rankings had the Tigers sitting as the No. 8 ranked team in the country. The Tigers have stayed in the conversation but don’t control their destiny down the stretch. Although, a win in the last week of the regular season and the ACC Championship won’t hurt their case.

College Football National Championship Winner Odds (+2000)

At +2000 on the FanDuel Sportsbook, the Clemson Tigers have again been bet down after sitting at +6000 last week. Those odds have the Tigers sitting all alone with the fifth-best odds to win the National Championship.

The Remaining Schedule

Nov. 26 vs. South Carolina

The Clemson Tigers have one final date on their schedule, which will see them play host to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. It’s hard to see the visitors putting up much of a fight here, but stranger things have happened.

This Week: vs. South Carolina (-14.5)

The Tigers are set to enter this matchup against the Gamecocks as two touchdown-sized favorites, meaning it’s somewhat expected that they handle their business and head into the ACC Championship game with just one loss on their resume.
