Justin Thomas Outright (+1200) $20 to win $240
JT has been my pick for the Green Jacket for about a calendar year now, and now is not a time to hop off the train. The stats back up that he has only been a cold putter away from winning multiple times since the COVID restart, and he now has the experience at Augusta to navigate these slick greens en route to his first Masters win.
Bubba Watson Outright (+3000) $10 to win $300
Augusta National is one of the only places where I put value on course history and past performance, and Bubba has plenty of good memories here. The 2012 and 2014 Masters winner has all the tools off the tee to shape his ball as needed, and he is another one whose putter that has been cold but should turn around at a familiar course. Bubba’s recent form should also give us confidence, with back to back top 10’s coming into this week. He is second in the field in total ball striking and sixth off the tee in the field in strokes gained over the previous 24 rounds.
Webb Simpson Outright (+4000) $10 to win $400
Webb is sneakily flying under the radar coming into this week. He has not played as much golf as any of the other big names in the sport of late, but that will not deter me from backing someone who has both solid tournament history at Augusta (T5 in 2018, T20 in 2017) and great recent form (nine top 20’s in his last 11 starts, including five top 10’s and a win).
Webb Simpson to Win “Group D” Betting (+260) $20 to win $52
This grouping listed on FanDuel is Simpson, Day, Hatton, and Morikawa. My thoughts on Webb are listed above, and I think through a process of elimination, he is the sharp pick from this group. Morikawa was all anyone could talk about over the summer (rightfully so), but he has struggled a bit of late and will also be making his Masters debut this week. Hatton has never finished better than T44 at Augusta, and I am fine fading Day after a brutal Sunday last week while in contention at the Houston Open.
Lee Westwood Outright (+10000) $5 to win $500
Twice a bridesmaid at Augusta National and six times a top-10 finisher, Lee Westwood is someone who will have little to buzz heading into this tournament, but for my money, he is worth a dart throw on an outright at triple digits on the return. The form is good here, too – Lee has finished in the top 20 in four of his last five starts worldwide.
Corey Conners Top “Rest of World” Player (+2200) $5 to win $110
Removing all the U.S. born players in addition to all the Euros leaves us with a pool of roughly 15 golfers who can win this prop. The favorites are Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Jason Day, and Louis Oosthuizen. While each of those guys are solid, they each have their fair share of off weeks, so give me the value of 22/1 with Conners, who is 10th in this field in SG: T2G.
