But let's get started with our top story of the day. Not surprising, FanDuel following DraftKings at this point with the prediction markets launching in five states, nationwide rollout coming in 2026. It's called FanDuel Predicts. They're gonna have their own app, just like DraftKings does. You can make predictions now in Alabama, Alaska, South Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota, they'll offer contracts in all 50 states on traditional offerings based on the S&P 500 and NASDAQ, prices of oil and gas, etc. and then naturally diving into baseball, football, basketball, and hockey coming up here in 2026 as well. Meanwhile, a new partnership, first of its kind, a professional sports organization has partnered with a prediction markets company. The Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League are now official partners with CalSci. It takes effect this week. Each side can use the other's intellectual property for co-marketing purposes, and Calhi will be promoted. During home games at the United Center and on Blackhawks broadcasts, first of its kind, certainly probably not the last as well. Boy, we have not seen the last of the San Francisco Forty-Niners, they're on a collision course to potentially get the number one seed in the NFC. They absolutely smashed the Indianapolis Colts last night. Brock Purdy throwing touchdown after touchdown. One to McCaffrey, George Kittle also had a really big game, which of course was good for me, as we talked about on the show yesterday. Story for another day. 48 to 27. The Game was really not even that close. The 49ers take care of the Colts who now are on the outside looking into the postseason. Colts need to win out. If the 49ers win out, they're the West champs, they're the number 1 seed. Here's Kyle Shanahan on the offensive explosion, which has been going on now a couple of weeks. You know, I remember starting this offseason, bringing the guys over to my house, um, back in OTAs and all the vets, guys have been here for 3 or 4 years and You know, there's all guys who, you know, every time we've gone to OTAs, it's been all about trying to get to a Super Bowl, trying to win a Super Bowl, and I wanted to make sure that we didn't really talk that way this year. And we need to focus on just trying to be the best team we could be and um we'll, we'll see what happens. And that's kind of been our motto all year and I was just so proud that I actually now last night could congratulate them and actually talk about the playoffs because they're in that, they got in there and Now it's time to position ourselves to try to do something special on that, uh, but you gotta win with it, like we said, and we're right now we're not getting that done, and, and I know this locker room's hurting. Again, I've been a part of it for a short time for 2 losses, and I know that it's been a, it's been a, it's been a long slide now for over 1 month, and I know that's tough. I've been a part of those slides, and now I'm obviously a part of this right now, and, uh. We just got to find a way to dig deep and, and find a way to win a football game. And, um, we can't worry about all the scenarios and all the things out there. I know they're all out there. I know what they are, uh, but we got to find a way to win a football game or none of the scenarios come into play. Rivers actually played well last night for Indianapolis through a pick 6 late that sealed the game. Meanwhile, we will not be seeing DK Metcalf of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the next couple of weeks. He has been officially suspended by the National Football League for that altercation that he had with a fan in Indianapolis. It appeared he took a swipe at the fan, also investigated to see. What the fans specifically said. Nothing has been released to this point that would have shown that Metcalf should have went over and took the swipe. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs could be leaving Kansas City. They have a deal to play in a dome in the state of Kansas, starting in 2031. It's a $3 billion project. Now, again, this has been announced. See if it comes to fruition, but this is the plan for the Chiefs to move to Kansas in 2031. What will be the plans for John Harbaugh moving forward? Almost definitely, the Ravens will be on the outside looking into the playoffs for the first time in a while. Lamar Jackson questionable for this week's game. John Harbaugh talked about feeling a little hot seat and says he doesn't believe in it. And it's never been about keeping a job and there's no such thing as like your job or my job, you know, we, we have, we have responsibilities we're given opportunities to steward. Those responsibilities and you're given a job. To do that until you're not, you know, and then, uh, you try to do the best. I try to do the job, not try to keep the job, because there's no such thing as having a job, just doing a job. And so my focus is on always and has been for the last 18 years here and the last 41 years in coaching, or is it 42? It's up there. It's been to try to do the best job I can today and fight as hard as I can so the guys can have the best chance to be successful today. And anything after today, I'm not thinking about. Because, you know, it's not given for us to think about. We don't have control over that except for the job we do today. If we do a good enough job today, then the opportunity to do that job or a different job will be there tomorrow. Big win for Washington State at the famous Idaho Potatoes Bowl. They defeat Utah State 34 to 21. They were slight favorites. They end up winning this, and the game also goes over the total. Louisville plays Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl today at 2 p.m. Eastern in South Florida. Southern Miss, meanwhile is in New Orleans, getting ready to take on Western Kentucky. The New Orleans Bowl is 5:30 p.m. Eastern. And then tonight's bowl game. is all solid with a UNLV Ohio matchup. UNLV had a great season in Ohio looking for a new coach. Uh, Rebs are 6.5 point favorites, total 66.5. Now, last night in the NBA we'll get to some of the results, but something happened on the court that you don't see very often. A player taking himself out of the game and not coming back. That's what happened last night with Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. He got into a discussion with Steve Kerr, apparently didn't like what he had to say, and opted to essentially leave the bench and leave the game. So this forced, naturally, Steve Kerr to talk about it afterwards, saying essentially, they had a disagreement, Draymond made his choice, and then when he wanted to come back later in the game, the Warriors made their choice. Yeah, we got, we got into it obviously and, and, um, you know, I took the time out just because I thought we lost our focus there a little bit and um. So, um, we had it out a little bit and, um, you know, he made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off and um. That's all I'm going to say about it. It's everything, everything is private and Yeah, I got, I got nothing further to add. You know, people lose their emotions. Sometimes it happens. It is what it is. You know, we've been at this now for a long time, you know. So Sometimes You, you're with people for a long time, you, there's a level of comfort. And it happens we move forward. Meanwhile, the Warriors did win the game last night, 120 to 97 over the Orlando Magic. Steph Curry had 26, Jimmy Butler had 21. The Oklahoma City Thunder for a minute, looked like they could actually lose a game in the NBA last night. They were down late in this one, but came all the way back to. To beat the Grizzlies 119 to 103. They're now 26-3 on the season. Shay Gilgs Alexander with another 31 point performance. Mark Dagnos said not just SGA, the entire team contributed. What did you make of not just Shea, but just the team, like, you know, after they cut it to 4 and it just seemed like, Total lock in and uh and attack mode on both ends. Yeah, we moved the scoreboard down there down the stretch, um, credit Memphis they, they kept playing because we had a pretty good lead there that we could have held and we let them scrape back into the game, um. With just a little bit of lack of execution, both ends, uh, and to the credit of the team, we got it back on the road there pretty quickly. They're, they're a pretty good team, and you, whenever, you know, a team like that, whoever's on the court, they're always going to play hard and, you know, a lot of credit to them. But like I said, we just had a click and, and, and play our, our, our style of basketball. I feel like whenever we did that, start running the floor, start shooting the ball a little bit more, getting better shots, you know, we, we got going. Oh Jokic, another triple-double last night, 14 points, 13 assists, 13 rebounds. Guess what? Nuggets beat, Nuggets beat the Jazz, 135 to 112, and also the Celtics took care of the Pacers, 103. 295. You can, of course, subscribe to his sub stack to learn the very latest on sports betting and naturally the prediction market business, which is gonna be what Dustin is gonna be posting a lot about, I think, over the next year. Welcome back to the show, uh, Dustin, and certainly, we now have the two major sports betting operations jumping into the fray with their own app for prediction markets. DraftKings launches on Friday, FanDuel launches on Monday. Is there any difference in how the two companies have approached the prediction markets thus far? Yeah, I guess Merry Christmas if you like FanDuel or DraftKings. Uh, these moves have been kind of in, uh, waiting in the wings. We've been, they've been telling us they were gonna launch either late Q4 or early Q1. And now we have both of them with prediction markets. Again, we use prediction markets. They're basically offering sports betting in some cohort of states. We have DraftKings launched in 38 states. 17 of them have sports event contracts. Again, peer to peer sports betting exchange where you can bet on money lines and spreads and things like that. Um, uh, interesting, like 38 states, so that's everything else. Things like financial markets, crypto markets. Uh, entertainment and culture markets, you can trade on other things there. Uh, but 17 states, including the 33 biggest states outside of New York that don't have sports betting are California, Texas, and Florida. Florida actually has sports betting, but it's run as a monopoly, uh, for hard rock, where, so DraftKings is now in Florida as well. FanDuel on Monday took a different approach. Only 5 states, most of them very small, including the. Both the Dakotas and, uh, uh, and Alaska, um, a couple of other states. Uh, they said they're gonna launch in more states as, uh, as time goes on here in the coming weeks and early 2026. Um, the big question is, do they go into those big states that, um, that they don't have sports betting in right now? California, big question with all the, with, uh, all the consternation about the tribes and the future of sports betting there. Texas seems like a no-brainer, and will they be willing to push the envelope in Florida. But again, both these things just look like kind of like a sports betting app where you can Uh, better trade on the outcomes of, of sporting events and this is gonna be the big story of 2026 is how these consumer-facing brands from the sports betting industry compete with the likes of Calhi, Poly Market, and everybody else coming into the space. Yes, and, and Dustin, one of the crypto, uh, operators, crypto.com, were one of the first to launch prediction markets on their site at the start of the football season. So I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that Coinbase has now launched as well. In fact, it feels like a lot of the crypto operators are taking this hand in hand, and they already have apps set up to, to, uh, operate this sort of stuff. So they got ahead of, of FanDuel and DraftKings here. Yeah, I mean, able to move fast, right? They're moving fast and breaking things. The crypto industry is very, uh, very familiar with doing that. So, yeah, crypto.com is actually the reason why we're here in the first place. Like this time last year, they were, they, they certified sports event contracts and off we off we go. We had, we have a year of all this growth of prediction markets and sports betting. Uh, so yeah, Coinbase just announced last week in a partnership with Calshi that they were launching prediction markets. They're trying to become the quote-unquote, everything exchange where you can trade on anything you want, including stocks and, and crypto and things like that. Um, and then just yesterday, they also acquired a company called, uh, the Clearing Company, which Uh, it's really new, just got started in March, got funded in August with a seeding, the seed round of about 15 million, and now they're acquired. Um, so, this is, uh, you, you can see how quickly everybody's adopting this. Like, if this is going to be the way people trade on things, and again, if sports betting is a major part of this moving forward, nobody wants to be left out of this. Anybody who has a wallet, has a chance to become a prediction market and, you know, Coinbase has tens of millions, I think. 100 million users registered, uh, fewer than that certainly in terms of active users, but they're a huge platform that now has access to, uh, giving access to users to, to sports betting, and this is gonna, this is being done in partnership with Calshi. Now, this acquisition means they can do it with other companies and other market makers, and, uh, it'll, we'll see how that goes in the new year. But for now, it's with Calshi, and this is gonna create what we think is a pretty huge uplift for Kalshi. Volume because that's being traded into their markets and what they're doing. So, again, uh, the pace of things, we've had basically had 333 major companies launch prediction markets just in the past week, and we're gonna see more of that certainly, uh, come the new year. And, you know, polymarket is still in beta as we sit here. Like they're a, they're a huge player in all this, but they haven't really fully launched yet in the United States. And when they do, and when they ramp up, it's gonna be, it's gonna be something to see. Yeah. And uh we got some news last week about uh Calshi coming out and saying that they have certified an idea for a specific prediction, and then social media backlash came and then they said, whoa, we're not really doing that, we just wanted to get it ready just in case. Now, what I'm referring to, Dustin, is, of course, this idea that you could predict and put money on where kids end up going via the transfer portal, naturally, I mean, I don't know that cooler heads prevailed here, honestly, it just seems like somebody in the company was told you can't do this because now they're not going to. I, I don't, I don't see this happening now after the backlash that they got last week. Yeah, so, Calci basically, like, when they're a little bit behind in the weeds here about how things work, Calci, when it wants to put up a new market, certifies it with the the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the, the federal agency that kind of oversees all this. And, uh, one day recently, they said, By the way, we're gonna start taking markets on if players will, uh, enter the transfer portal. Obviously, this is the, the college football transfer portal is coming up in, on January 2nd, I believe. Um, and then, uh, whether players will actually go to a certain school. Uh, and, you know, this was reported before they actually launched the markets because, you know, we see this in a, a day in advance, what they're planning to do. And it gets out and again, like, I'm like, Twitter is a little bit of a, of a vacuum, right? Like, it's like, it's a, it's its own thing, but like, everybody was saying how dumb and stupid this is. Like, we cannot have betting on where college players are going. There's already all this, uh, this worrying concern about college betting in general, what like, and, and harassment of players and whether we should have props and, you know, there's investigations around college players and A college betting transfer portal on the, on the transfer portal is easily manipulable, right? Like we can, like, you could, you could, one of the ways that the markets could have resolved was a player announces on Twitter that they're going to transfer and that means the, the bet resolves as yes, right? Think about how easy that is to manipulate or somebody could hack somebody's Twitter account and say, I did this, right? So it's a terrible idea that, yeah. They basically said, oh, we put markets up all the time. We don't necessarily intend to do them. They absolutely intended to do them until everybody in the sports and college ecosystem said, this is a terrible idea. You cannot do this. Please don't do this. Uh, and for now, they've backed off, and I agree with you. I don't, I don't see them doing this. But it is, this is the kind of wild west we're seeing a prediction markets is that they can put up whatever they want, and maybe they happen, maybe they don't, but it's, it's happening faster and faster every day.
