Challenging Plays on the Golf Course
As we reached the 6th hole on the golf course, there was much anticipation about moving forward to the 16th, typically a challenging hole. The hole features a split fairway and a notable body of water, which is one of the only water features on the course besides the distant ocean. Playing from a tee at 382 yards today, the sightlines were unusual, and the risk of a flip hook was notably high, something I remembered from previous games.
Despite the complexities of the hole, when playing from the longer 491-yard pro tee, the dynamics changed considerably, adding about another 100 yards to our play. There was a moment of tension in handling a 6 iron from a bunker with concerns about landing in the water. However, the focus was on making the green rather than the hazards. After some debate whether the ball hit the lip of the bunker, it was confirmed that the shot was clean.
Luckily, I made an eagle early in the game, giving me a decent score buffer. This was crucial as my main goal for the day was to break 80. Highlights from the course included using my beloved Cleveland RTX 60 lob wedge and trying to maintain my score. Despite a slight mishap with a pulled shot, we remained 1 under after two holes. Observing the patterns, I noted that the first 12 putts tended to veer left or right, influencing my strategy for the remainder of the day.
