Jimmie Rivera Breaks Down His Epic BKFC Knockout Win

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Combat Sports Report

Jimmy Rivera Breaks Down His Epic Knockout and Discusses His Fighting Future

Jimmy Rivera returned to the program after delivering a spectacular knockout at the Prudential Center. Fighting in his backyard and getting his hand raised made the moment even more meaningful, although Rivera acknowledged that it was a particularly violent finish.

Rivera walked away with only a small scratch. He expected his opponent to start quickly, swing for the fences, and pursue an early finish. Instead, Brandon was more tentative and less aggressive than he had been in his previous seven BKFC fights.

That unexpected approach forced Rivera to adjust. His coaches emphasized patience, avoiding unnecessary punishment, and waiting for the right opening. Between the third and fourth rounds, they encouraged him to follow up with more punches and increase the pressure in pursuit of the finish.

Rivera said his opponent backed up and covered up in the third round, landing a punch while Rivera attacked. The plan was to work the body before moving to the head. When his opponent retreated again in the fourth, Rivera kept him on the ropes and connected with a combination.

Rivera did not immediately realize that the fight was over. Believing his opponent was still engaging, he rolled under in anticipation of another punch. He then saw his opponent fall face-first and knew the knockout had ended the fight.

As for his future, Rivera is taking opportunities one call at a time while continuing to train. He planned to train lightly for the remainder of the week before returning to his normal routine the following week. He does not feel that his body is preventing him from continuing with boxing and BKFC fights.

Rivera also revealed that he has something in the works for December, though he could not discuss it yet. After taking significant time away and once believing he was finished, he realized that he still has more left in the tank. With several opportunities available, he intends to take advantage of them.
