6. Dodgers Bet on Deep Upside
The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t pick until No. 40, but they used their draft capital masterfully. They started with left-hander Zachary Root, a pitcher boasting a well-rounded four-pitch mix. His curveball and changeup have each received 60-grades from scouts, and his cutter complements a solid fastball. If L.A. enhances his fastball effectiveness, Root could emerge as one of the top arms in the class.
At pick No. 41, they followed with Arkansas outfielder Charles Davalan. One of the best contact hitters in the class, Davalan combines plate discipline, raw power, and advanced bat control. He excels against lefties and consistently reaches triple-digit exit velocities.
In Round 2, the Dodgers gambled on Cam Leiter, a big-armed righty with health concerns but top-tier stuff when right. His fastball has flirted with 100 mph. They added outfielder Landyn Vidourek in Round 3, an elite runner with good raw power and athleticism.
Given the Dodgers' track record of maximizing player potential, these four high-upside picks could quickly become standout prospects in their loaded system.
