Rising Through the Ranks
Breakthrough in High-A
The following season marked a significant turnaround for Black. Promoted to the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, he found his rhythm, boasting a .281 batting average and an .831 OPS across 64 games. Notably, he slashed his strikeout rate while maintaining a healthy walk rate, and his power at the plate became increasingly evident.
Dominance in Double-A
2023 saw Tyler advance to Double-A, where he continued his upward trajectory. Playing for the Biloxi Shuckers, he impressed with 38 extra-base hits, including 14 home runs and eight triples, over 84 games. This stint highlighted not just his growing power but also a matured approach to batting, despite a slight increase in strikeouts.
Excelling in Triple-A and Beyond
Midseason of the same year, Tyler earned a promotion to Triple-A, where he maintained his power surge and significantly reduced his strikeout rate, posting a .942 OPS over 39 games. However, a temporary setback occurred during the spring, with Tyler's performance dipping in the Cactus League games. This didn't deter him; returning to Nashville Sounds, he quickly regained form, showcasing his readiness for the next level.
