Kade Anderson's Dominating Pitching Streak in the Minors

Kade Anderson's Dominating Pitching Streak in the Minors

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Just Baseball Show

Rising Star Kate Anderson Dominates in Double-A

Kate Anderson has been making headlines with his exceptional performance in Double-A this season. Discussing his recent achievements on the Just Baseball show, it's clear Anderson is performing at a level comparable to an established big leaguer on a minor league rehab stint. His command on the mound is highlighted by his use of all four pitches, each consistently thrown for strikes.

In the Texas League, known for being a challenging environment for pitchers, Anderson has managed a 41% strikeout rate and boasts one of the longest scoreless streaks in minor league history, at 27 and 2/3 innings. Opponents have a slash line of .152/.187/.205 against him, and they’re hitting below .100 against his slider. Remarkably, Anderson has only allowed seven extra-base hits throughout the entire year.

While nothing in Anderson's arsenal may initially jump off the page, each pitch he throws is considered above average, with several rated as plus. His ability to locate and execute his pitches is reflected in his impressive strikeout to walk ratios, which have been consistently great over the months. Starting off with 30 strikeouts to four walks in April, he continued his dominance with 37 strikeouts to three walks in May, and so far in June, he has 23 strikeouts to just one walk.

Despite these impressive figures, Anderson is not the highest-ranked pitching prospect in the Seattle Mariners organization, sitting as the number 10 prospect on Just Baseball's Top 100 update. His rotation mate at Double-A Arkansas, Ryan Sloan, holds the number five spot. Anderson’s extraordinary stats and his ability to maintain high performance make his progress an exciting development to watch.
