Audi and Cadillac Embark on Their Formula One Journey
Audi has officially taken over the Swiss Saba team, originally part of BMW's racing operations, signaling the start of its ambitious journey in Formula One. After announcing their entry in the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, Audi has set its sights on becoming the most successful team in the history of the sport by 2026. Despite the monumental goal, they are focusing on achievable milestones, beginning their campaign with a solid driver lineup featuring Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Their testing debut in Bahrain saw the team secure the 10th fastest time, marking a promising start.
On the other hand, Cadillac entered the Formula One scene with significantly less preparation time after securing its commercial deal in November 2024. Based at Silverstone Park, adjacent to the iconic circuit, Cadillac quickly geared up by enlisting veteran drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. This strategic move aims to leverage their extensive experience in F1, from race wins to championship efforts. Cadillac's pre-season performance in Bahrain was noteworthy, as they outpaced the Aston Martins, demonstrating reliability and speed ahead of their competitive debut.
Both Audi and Cadillac are set to make their highly-anticipated debut at the Melbourne Grand Prix. The automotive giants are entering the pinnacle of motorsport with different strategies and preparations, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
