Ferrari Aims for Double Win in F1 & WEC 2026 Championships

Ferrari's Competitive Edge in 2026 Formula One and World Endurance Championship
Ferrari's Formula One team has shown promising progress in 2026, featuring a smaller turbo that enhances their performance at the start of races. Despite this advantage, the team has not yet celebrated a Grand Prix victory in the first three races. However, Ferrari has maintained a dominant presence in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), particularly in the elite hypercar class, where it is the reigning champion.
The WEC season is set to commence on Ferrari's home ground at the Classic Track Imola, following the postponement of the original opener in Qatar due to conflicts in the Middle East. With a strong team lineup including Alessandro Pierre Guidi, XF1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Collado—who notably became the first British driver to win a world title in a Ferrari since 1964—the team is optimistic about defending their titles. Consistency and strategic point accumulation, especially at Le Mans which offers double points, are emphasized as key factors for another successful season.
For Antonio Giovinazzi, the season is not just an opportunity to win another title but also to excel in qualifying rounds with the 499P car. His focus on improving his single-lap performance has yielded impressive results, including securing the hyper pole position in Qatar and strong performances throughout the previous season.
Ferrari's second car, number 50, will feature Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicholas Nielsen. This trio aims to improve on tracks where they've previously struggled, like Fuji and Sao Paulo, and to learn from past setbacks such as their disqualification at Le Mans due to a rear wing infringement.
The revised WEC calendar for the year includes the Six Hours of Imola on April 19, shortly after Formula One's Miami race, and concludes with two rounds in the Middle East in October and November. This scheduling places the spotlight on the World Endurance Championship as an exciting precursor to the return of Formula One the following month.
