Isack Hadjar Joins Max Verstappen as Red Bull's New Teammate

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Inside Line

Isaac Hadjar Takes On the Challenge as Max Verstappen's New Teammate

Isaac Hadjar is set to face one of Formula One's greatest challenges as the new teammate of four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Following in the footsteps of predecessors like Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, Liam Lawson, and Yuki Tsunoda, Hadjar joins the Red Bull team which has remained dominant under Verstappen’s lead since Daniel Ricciardo's departure at the end of 2018. Despite the high turnover in Verstappen's teammates, Hadjar showed no signs of nervousness during the unveiling of the Red Bull RB 22 race car at Ford's Detroit facility.

Hadjar, who joined Red Bull's junior team in 2021, expressed enthusiasm for achieving his goal so swiftly and acknowledged the privilege of ascending so quickly in the competitive world of Formula One. Overcoming an early setback with a crash during his debut in Australia, the 21-year-old Frenchman has made a remarkable recovery. He notably became the youngest French driver to secure a podium finish, placing third at the Dutch Grand Prix. Furthermore, in the previous season, he outperformed his then-teammate Liam Lawson, dominating in both qualifying rounds and races.

Transitioning to a teammate as formidable as Verstappen, who recently won six of the last nine races of 2025, poses a significant step up for Hadjar. With new challenges such as adjusting to new cars, a novel engine formula, and handling a debut works power unit, Hadjar recognizes the enormity of the task ahead. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic, citing the advantages of working within a familiar team environment and expressing confidence in the capabilities of their homemade engine. For Hadjar, this season is not only about learning quickly but also demonstrating his ability to compete at the highest level of motorsport.
