Nuggets vs Mavs Tuesday Prediction | NBA Picks Today, Best Bets

John Canady

Host · Writer

The Denver Nuggets hit the road for a Western Conference showdown against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. Both squads enter this battle looking to continue stacking wins to climb the standings as the postseason inches closer. Denver has won four of their last five games, while the Mavericks have lost three of their last five without Kyrie Irving and Luke Doncic. However, with Irving listed as a game-time decision, Jason Kidd’s squad could be in line to get back a key piece in a critical matchup.

Nuggets vs. Mavericks

  • Location: American Airlines Center (Dallas, Texas) | Date: Tuesday, Jan. 14
  • Where to Watch: TNT/truTV/Max | Time: 9:30 PM ET
  • Spread: Nuggets -3.5 | Moneyline: Nuggets -164 | Total: 234.5

Nuggets vs. Mavericks Best Bet: Nuggets -3

Denver has been nowhere near as dominant as they have been over the last few seasons, but you can never overlook the Nuggets, especially with Nikola Jokic leading the way. The three-time MVP winner gives Michael Malone’s squad a chance to win on a nightly basis. Against a Mavericks team that has struggled recently to put together consistent outings without their two stars on the court, it’s hard to imagine that Dallas could knock off the Nuggets, even if Irving does return to action. Give me the Nuggets in this one.

Nuggets vs. Mavericks Best Total Bet: Under 234.5

Both Denver and Dallas have struggled throughout the season to consistently score at a high rate, especially with both squads dealing with injuries. However, over the past five games, the Nuggets have seemed to find their rhythm behind the emergence of Russell Westbrook who has thrived in a starting role for the shorthanded Nuggets lately. Despite that, it’s hard to envision that the Mavs can score enough points to help push over 234.5. That said, a final score of 121-109 seems like a realistic outcome.

Nuggets Best Player Bet: Russell Westbrook 8+ Assists +135

Russell Westbrook has shown flashes of his former MVP play over the recent stretch for the Nuggets. The 36-year-old is averaging 17.9 points, eight assists and 7.7 rebounds in the month of January and he’s shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. With 25 assists in the team’s last three games, it won’t be a surprise to see head coach Michael Malone continue to lean into the veteran guard to take pressure off Jokic on offense.

Mavericks Best Player Bet: Kyrie Irving 25+ Points

Kyrie Irving seems poised to make his return on Tuesday night, and the Mavericks need his presence on the court in a big way. If Irving is good to go, there’s no doubt that the team’s offense will immediately run through the star guard. With the Nuggets still searching for a reliable perimeter defender, Irving could be in line for a big night in his return to action, especially as the Mavs try to keep pace with the Nuggets.
