USA vs. Brazil SGP
Legs 1 & 2: LeBron James 6+ Assists, 6+ Rebounds
LeBron James is the leader of Team USA, and he’ll make sure his presence is known for being an all-around contributor. He’s combined for at least six assists and six rebounds in two of three games in group play, with the one miss being a five-assist outing. I expect LeBron to give us his best effort in a knockout stage setting.
Legs 3 & 4: Kevin Durant 2+ Threes, 2+ Assists
Kevin Durant has drilled at least three shots from beyond the arc in all three games of group play while also dishing out at least two assists in the two previous outings. Despite Team USA’s massive talent advantage, everyone is going to need to play team basketball to ensure their advancement, so I’ll expect Durant to not be shy as a distributor while also getting his looks from deep.
Leg 5: Joel Embiid: 10+ Points
Joel Embiid had his best showing of the Olympics, scoring 15 points in 23 minutes and tied for the team-high in minutes. Brazil doesn’t have too many athletic bigs, so we’ll expect another game where Embiid gets a ton of minutes, giving us confidence that he can surpass the ten-point mark again.
Leg 6: Anthony Davis UNDER 9.5 Points
Leading up to Team USA’s game on Saturday against Puerto Rico, many were counting on a big Joel Embiid performance, which came as he had 15 points on 14 field goal attempts. Anthony Davis ended up only playing 15 minutes, and while he did finish with ten points, it was on an efficient 3/4 shooting from the field with a 4/4 result from the line. We won’t count on him to be as efficient again, knowing he’s content with just playing defense and grabbing rebounds. Scoring is not his priority, so it won’t be for us.
