Rockets vs Thunder Monday Prediction | NBA Picks Today, Best Bets

John Canady

Host · Writer

The Houston Rockets hit the road for a Western Conference showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Houston enters this matchup winning three of their last five games, while the Thunder are in the midst of a three-game winning streak. However, in the second night of a back-to-back for OKC, the Rockets will do everything they can to challenge the tired legs of the young Thunder squad.

Rockets vs Thunder Best Bet: Rockets +9.5

The Rockets head into this battle looking to pull off an upset on the road in OKC, a task they’ve yet to complete so far this season. Houston is 0-1 at Paycom Center on the year, but their best chance to steal a win may be on the Thunder’s second night of a back-to-back. Each game the Rockets have lost to the Thunder on the road has been a blowout, but this go around, I am going against the grain and saying Ime Udoka’s squad keeps it close. Although Houston may not steal the win, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the margin of victory be less than ten points.

Rockets vs Thunder Best Total Bet: Over 228

Oklahoma City ranks among the best in the league this season averaging 119.4 points per game. On the flip side, the Rockets have shown some inconsistency on offense, but they rank within the middle of the pack averaging 112.6 points per matchup. Assuming this trend stays the same, the set total of 228 should be an easy task for these two teams to overcome, especially considering two of their three matchups this season have surpassed the 228 point set total.

Rockets Best Player Bet: Dillon Brooks Over 13.5 Points -120

Dillon Brooks enters this matchup averaging 13.5 points per game, and he tends to rise to the challenge in big time matchups like this one. The gritty forward has finished with more than 14 points in two of his last three games. In addition, Brooks finished with 16 points in the one game he suited up for against the Thunder this season. That said, give me the odds that the Oregon product has a solid night on Monday.

Thunder Best Player Bet: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 3+ Threes Made +250

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to prove he’s one of the best natural scorers in the league averaging 32.3 points per game on the season. Part of the reason for his career year is his increased shooting from beyond the arc, an area he shoots 36.9% from on the season. Gilgeous-Alexander has finished with 3+ threes in back-to-back games, and four of his last five games. With the Thunder star likely to stay aggressive on Monday, I can see his hot shooting from deep continuing, especially if Udoka’s squad looks to prevent him from attacking the paint.
