9:39 p.m. ET – Alabama vs. North Carolina
Where to Watch: CBS | Location: crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA
The North Carolina Tar Heels and Alabama Crimson Tide square off in the second game in Los Angeles on Thursday night, tipping off after Clemson faces Arizona. North Carolina and Alabama both like to run, and the Crimson Tide have struggled on defense this season, surrendering an average of 80.9 points per game. This game is expected to be a track meet with many points scored, and the player point totals are inflated as a result. SportsGrid’s model believes there is a lot of value in going against that line of thinking and taking unders.
North Carolina star guard RJ Davis has a point total of 21.5, and the model projects him to score only 19.1. Alabama’s counterpart, Mark Sears, is listed with a total of 22.5 points, and the model projects only 18.7. Alabama supporting players Aaron Estrada and Grant Nelson are also listed with five-star projections for unders. Estrada averages 13.3 points per game but is listed with a total of 15.5. The model has him projected for only 12.6 points. Nelson has a lower total of 9.5 points but is projected to score only 7.2. All of these are five-star projections.
SportsGrid’s Best Bets: RJ Davis UNDER 21.5 points, Aaron Estrada UNDER 15.5 points, Grant Nelson UNDER 9.5 points, Mark Sears UNDER 22.5 points | SportsGrid Projections: 5 stars
