ACC Championship Game - Clemson vs. Miami - December 7
The Clemson Tigers finish 8-0 in the ACC and qualify for the ACC Championship Game. Their opponent? The 12-0 Miami Hurricanes. This would be a top-ten matchup, and Clemson might need a win to make it to the College Football Playoff. Cam Ward and Cade Klubnik have played like the best quarterbacks in the ACC thus far in the season, and if the weather cooperates in early December, this could be a shootout. Miami has shown enough vulnerability on defense, notably giving up explosive plays. I think Clemson has the slight edge, and the Tigers take back the ACC with a thrilling win that gives them the third seed in the College Football Playoff.
Prediction: Clemson 41 - Miami 38

Virginia at Clemson (-21) - October 19 at Noon
The Virginia Cavaliers travel to Death Valley to play the 5-1 Clemson Tigers. UVA has struggled on offense recently, presenting a significant problem against the explosive Clemson offense. The Tigers have not been flawless on offense: they were awful in the red zone against Florida State and got off to a slow start against Wake Forest. However, Clemson has outgained their past two opponents by nearly 300 yards in each game and has blown everyone out since losing to Georgia in Week 1. Virginia will get some late points but won’t be able to keep pace with Cade Klubnik and the Tigers as Clemson improves to 6-1.
Prediction: Clemson 41 - Virginia 17
Louisville at Clemson - November 2
Clemson returns from a bye week and hosts the Louisville Cardinals on November 2. Louisville has a monster game against the Miami Hurricanes this Saturday. This game could either insert the Cardinals back into the race for the ACC Championship Game or give them a third loss and remove them entirely from contention. Louisville has struggled mightily on defense this season, particularly against the pass. Cade Klubnik is ready to take advantage of that, and the Clemson Tigers have an emerging cast of wide receivers to exploit the Cardinals’ secondary. Louisville can also score, and Jeff Brohm is a very bright offensive mind. Clemson improves to 7-1 with an entertaining shootout win.
Prediction: Clemson 38 - Louisville 31
Clemson at Virginia Tech - November 9
This strikes me as the most dangerous game remaining on Clemson’s schedule. The Virginia Tech Hokies got off to a rocky start but rebounded from a pair of close losses with a blowout win at Stanford. The Hokies have Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse ahead of this game, and they could conceivably be 6-3 and red hot or 3-6 and despondent. If Virginia Tech has some momentum and Clemson enters at 7-1 and in the top ten, Clemson will need to be on upset watch. Ultimately, Virginia Tech does not have enough on offense to threaten the Tigers, and Clemson wins a challenging road game.
Prediction: Clemson 31 - Virginia Tech - 21
Clemson at Pittsburgh - November 16
The Pitt Panthers are 6-0 and deserve credit for their surprising success. They have close wins over Cincinnati, West Virginia, and California, plus a few blowouts. The Panthers have home games against Syracuse and Virginia before a road trip to SMU. It is conceivable, albeit unlikely, that Pitt and Clemson will both be unbeaten in the ACC when they meet in Pittsburgh on November 16. I think Pitt drops at least one game before playing Clemson and then another one as the Tigers' offense finds success through the air against a vulnerable Panthers’ defense. Clemson advances to 9-1 and remains unbeaten in the ACC.
Prediction: Clemson 38 - Pitt 27
The Citadel at Clemson - November 23
Citadel is currently 2-5, with losses to Western Carolina, Furman, and East Tennessee State. This game will not be competitive, and Clemson will get everyone into it as they rest up for a rivalry clash with the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Tigers roll to 10-1.
Prediction: Clemson 52 - Citadel 10
South Carolina at Clemson - November 30
Clemson and South Carolina annually meet to close the regular season in a game known locally as the “Palmetto Bowl.” The Tigers and Gamecocks do not like each other, and there could be a lot on the line as they meet on November 30. Clemson could be in the top ten, and South Carolina could need a win to make a bowl game or potentially save Shane Beamer’s job. The Gamecocks have a solid defensive line that could cause problems for Clemson’s offense, but does South Carolina have enough offense to win in Death Valley? The answer is “no,” the Tigers prevail in a tense contest.
Prediction: Clemson 27 - South Carolina 17
