15. Chase Allen, UTSA
Chase Allen earned Second-Team All-AAC honors last year after knocking home 13-of-15 field goals in 2023. He also made all 49 of his extra points. Allen should be on the Lou Groza Award Watch List before the 2024 season.
UTSA 2024 Win Total: 8.5
1. Graham Nicholson, Alabama
The reigning Lou Groza Award winner is taking his talents from the MAC to the SEC as Graham Nicholson portals from Miami (OH) to Alabama. Nicholson was 27-of-28 on field goals last season with the Redhawks and hit 35-of-37 extra points. His career-long field goal is 52 yards. He will help give the Crimson Tide an edge on special teams under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Alabama 2024 Season Win Total: 9.5
2. Jonah Dalmas, Boise State
Jonah Dalmas has been a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist twice in his career with the Broncos. He was 24-of-27 on field goals last year, including a long of 56 yards. He has only missed ten field goals in his career at Boise State and has 404 points scored.
Boise State 2024 Win Total: 8.5
3. Bert Auburn, Texas
Bert Auburn was first-team All-Big XII in 2023 and should battle for that spot this year in the SEC. Texas puts up plenty of points, and Auburn is a big part of salvaging drives for the Longhorns. He was 29-of-35 on field goals last season with a long of 54 yards.
Texas 2024 Win Total: 10.5
4. Dragan Kesich, Minnesota
The Big Ten Kicker of the Year in 2023 is back for the Golden Gophers. Dragan Kesich took home the award after hitting 23-of-27 field goals with a long of 54 yards. 2023 was also his first season handling field goal duties, and he should only improve. It’s impressive, given that late fall in the upper midwest does not have the ideal conditions to kick field goals.
Minnesota 2024 Win Total: 5.5
5. Alex McPherson, Auburn
The kicker for Auburn, not to be confused with the kicker named Auburn, was a Groza Award Semifinalist in 2023. Alex McPherson connected on all 13 field goal attempts and hit every extra point. He can connect from over 50 yards as well. His limited number of kicks placed him lower on this list, but he will have a chance to be in the mix for the Groza Award again in 2024.
Auburn 2024 Win Total: 7.5
6. Andres Borregales, Miami
The Hurricanes’ kicker, Andres Borregales, has a monster leg and has hit 56 of his 67 career field goal attempts. In 2023, Borregales was a first-team All-ACC and a Lou Groza Award semi-finalist. He was also All-ACC honorable mention in 2021 and 2022. Borregales hit four field goals of 50-plus yards in 2023.
Miami (FL) 2024 Win Total: 9.5
7. Tyler Loop, Arizona
Tyler Loop was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2023 and a first-team All-Big XII preseason selection in 2024 as the Wildcats changed conferences. Loop was 19-of-24 on field goals last season, with two blocked. He has a career-long of 52 yards. In a conference known for scoring, it is good to have a long-range weapon should the offense stall.
Arizona 2024 Win Total: 7.5
8. Jonathan Kim, Michigan State
The Michigan State kicker, Jonathan Kim, is one of the most trusted in the sport. After four years at North Carolina, Kim transferred to Michigan State before 2023 and hit 13-of-18 field goals, including a long of 58 yards. He is also the Spartans kickoff specialist. MSU’s offense should give Kim more chances to show his abilities in 2024 under a new head coach.
Michigan State 2024 Win Total: 4.5
9. Drew Stevens, Iowa
A two-time Lou Groza semi-finalist, Drew Stevens, can keep Iowa in games and win the defensive battles with his leg. Iowa kicked more field goals than extra points last year, so Stevens was their best offensive weapon. He has hit 34 career field goals.
Iowa 2024 Win Total: 7.5
10. John Love, Virginia Tech
John Love, a 2023 All-ACC honorable mention, is vital to turning around a Virginia Tech program that went to a bowl after a 2-4 start last season. Love made 22-of-24 field goals and nailed all 47 extra points. His long, however, is just 47 yards.
Virginia Tech 2024 Win Total: 7.5
11. Noah Burnette, North Carolina
Noah Burnette had a big 2023 for the Tar Heels as he was named Second-Team All-ACC. He made 19-of-20 field goal attempts with a long of 48 yards. He is 34-of-41 for his career. Burnette will be on the Lou Groza Award Watch List with several preseason All-ACC teams. The Tar Heels will be replacing quarterback Drake Maye, so having a reliable kicker could be huge.
North Carolina 2024 Win Total: 7.5
12. Michael Hayes, West Virginia
In his first season at the Power Five level in 2023, Michael Hayes had no problem adjusting after transferring from Georgia State. Hayes made 17 of his 21 field goal attempts with a long of 49 yards and 46 PATs. With the Mountaineers’ expectations heightened, Hayes will have a chance to shine in more of a spotlight.
West Virginia 2024 Win Total: 6.5
13. Carter Brown, Cincinnati
Carter Brown came to the Bearcats after an excellent freshman year at Arizona State in 2022. Last season at Cincinnati, Brown showed off a big leg, hitting 14-of-19 field goals with a long of 54 yards. He will need to improve on his percentage, but the talent is there for the former high school All-American.
14. Andrew Glass, Kent State
Kent State kicker Andrew Glass made 15-of-17 field goals in 2023 and is one of the best kickers in the MAC. He also handles kickoff duties with 35 career touchbacks. Glass also had two rushes for six yards in 2023.
Kent State 2024 Win Total: 2.5
