In a late-night post on Tuesday, Sluka shared the news with the rest of the world.

“I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled," Sluka posted on social media. “Despite discussions, it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future. I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program."

The fifth-year senior committed to UNLV after four seasons with Holy Cross. After transferring, the six-f00t-three playmaker impressed early throughout the year. However, after three games, the New York native has played his last snap with the Rebels over an NIL dispute.

“Former UNLV QB Matthew Sluka’s NIL representation, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, told ESPN that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach for transferring there," ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Wednesday. “None of that money was paid, per Cormartie."

In three starts with UNLV, the dual-threat quarterback completed 21 of 48 passes for 318 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception, while adding 253 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Considering that Sluka played fewer than four games, NCAA redshirt rules will allow the quarterback to enter next season with one year of eligibility remaining.

As for UNLV, the team will likely turn to Hajj-Malik Williams who has been the backup quarterback through the first few weeks.
