Alabama vs. Texas A&M Betting Picks and Game Preview

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From SportsGrid College Football Today

Alabama Lean Emerges Against A&M, but Betting Concerns Remain

Alabama looks appealing against A&M, but the matchup did not produce an official bet. The Crimson Tide’s offensive floor feels like 28 points, which is close to the team total. The preferred leans are Alabama and the over, although uncertainty surrounding the Aggies makes both difficult to play.

A&M’s recent offensive performances have raised concerns. The Aggies scored six points against LSU, six against Missouri, 21 against Kentucky and 41 against the Citadel. Marcel Reed’s prop for more than half a passing touchdown is priced around -130, meaning bettors must pay that price for him to throw a single touchdown pass.

Alabama would be the choice if forced to pick a side. The Crimson Tide entered last week in a difficult position after the way their game against Georgia ended, followed by a trip to Knoxville. Now they have lost two straight, and their season is on the line. Still, the number is significant for a team whose defense has not looked incredibly strong and whose offense struggled last week.

A&M could finish 8-4 or 7-5 after beginning the year as a top-10 team. The Aggies have not been well coached this season, and their quarterback has not been as good as expected. The line has also moved from 15.5 to 13.5, indicating money coming in on A&M. The most likely outcome appears to be an Alabama win by two touchdowns, which is close to the current line, but the game remains a complete pass.

Alabama is under pressure in the 12-team playoff format and may need to run the table. The remaining schedule includes LSU, the Iron Bowl and a difficult game at Vanderbilt, beginning with A&M.

The discussion also turned to playoff expansion. One view supported a 16-team format and remains firm on that position. Another considered eight teams the limit and still has not embraced 12, especially with discussion moving toward 24. The frustration centers on the belief that there were not 12 teams capable of winning the title, yet one team that could have won it was left out.
