LSU vs. Auburn Prediction: Tigers Face Must-Win Test

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From SportsGrid College Football Today

LSU Favored to Take Care of Business on the Road Against Auburn

LSU enters its road matchup against Auburn as a seven-point favorite, with the line also available at 7.5 and the total rising to 52.5.

LSU is one of the most talented teams in the country, but it has no room for error. With two losses and games against Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas ahead, LSU cannot afford to lose at Auburn if it wants to remain in the playoff conversation.

Laying 7.5 points on the road in an SEC game is difficult, especially against an Auburn team that just beat Georgia. However, that result may have been more about Georgia losing than Auburn winning. Auburn played well, but it is not necessarily as good as that victory suggests.

The point spread also reflects how highly the oddsmakers rate LSU. Auburn beat the No. 1 team in the country on the road and is now at home, yet LSU is still favored by more than a touchdown. LSU has consistently been priced like a very good team, which has made it difficult to find value when backing the Tigers.

LSU’s recent games have also been challenging to handicap. Kawan Lacey was injured early after several prop bets were placed on him, while Mississippi State disrupted an expected high-scoring game by controlling the ball and turning it over on downs six times.

Despite those frustrations, LSU remains the preferred side. The most likely outcome is a convincing road victory, with a predicted final score of 31-21. The 7.5-point spread is enough to keep the game off the betting card, but if forced to pick a side, the choice is LSU minus 7.5.
