Oregon Looks to Rebound Against Nebraska After an Ugly Loss
Oregon enters its matchup with Nebraska trying to recover from a poor performance against UCLA. With Dante Moore still out, uncertainty remains at quarterback after Dylan Rayola struggled and was benched last week.
The possibility of little or no drop-off between Moore and Rayola was questioned before the UCLA game. After Rayola’s performance, Oregon is now expected to receive better quarterback play this week regardless of who starts.
Oregon opened as a larger favorite, but the line fell below a touchdown. One analyst added Oregon at minus 6.5, pointing to Dan Lanning’s record as a dangerous coach coming off a loss and his willingness to run up the score when given the opportunity.
Nebraska played better against Indiana than many expected and nearly pulled off the upset. However, the emotional home game is followed by a trip to the Pacific Northwest to face an angry Oregon team.
The talent advantage was described as heavily favoring Oregon. Although the Ducks have not been as good as expected and losing a starting quarterback, Heisman Trophy candidate and potential top-10 draft pick has hurt, they can still finish the season strongly and reach a notable bowl game.
Any suggestion that Lanning is on the hot seat was dismissed. The view was that Oregon is much closer to the team people expected with Moore than the one currently showing up on the field. Both analysts liked Oregon against Nebraska, although only one included the Ducks on his betting card.
