Ole Miss Backed to Win Outright, While Texas’ Team Total Draws Over Support
With Texas favored by three points and the game total climbing to 54.5, Dave is backing Ole Miss. He grabbed Ole Miss plus 3.5 when the line was released Monday and believes the Rebels have the better team, coaching and quarterback.
Ole Miss has responded to its loss at Florida by crushing Vanderbilt and then defeating a top-15 Mississippi team. Its offense is rolling, while Texas has struggled to score despite building two double-digit leads with help from special teams, punt returns and kick returns.
Arch has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in four of his six starts against top-10 teams and is averaging 215 passing yards per game this season. Last week, he finished with 173 yards against a Florida defense ranked 129th against the pass. Dave likes Ole Miss plus the points and expects the Rebels to win outright.
Another angle is the Texas team total over 27.5. While there is respect for Trinidad Chambliss, Golding and Ole Miss’ 5-1 start, the Texas offense remains the central story. The belief is that Texas cannot win without scoring at least 28 points.
The Simmons injury also matters because he is viewed as one of the few defensive players at the major level whose absence could move the number. Based on that potential impact, the play is Texas over 27.5 points.
