Wisconsin Backed to Cover Against Road-Tested USC
USC enters its matchup with Wisconsin at 6-1, but its schedule is about to become more difficult. After traveling to Wisconsin, USC will host Ohio State, visit Indiana and still has UCLA on the schedule.
USC has struggled on trips outside Los Angeles. The team played in Week 0 and has multiple bye weeks, which could help make the travel easier, but there is skepticism that those adjustments will work.
Wisconsin getting three points is appealing because USC has not proven it can win on the road. Despite its 6-1 record, USC is 2-5 against the spread and has struggled when traveling east.
USC may be the better and more talented team, but Wisconsin’s defense presents a significant challenge for Mavia. The Badgers rank 10th nationally in defense and 19th against the pass.
Wisconsin’s inability to beat UCLA last week may have discouraged bettors after many backed the Badgers in a game with a short closing number. Still, Wisconsin is expected to find success on the ground and has a chance to win outright. The preferred play is Wisconsin plus three, with a smaller moneyline position potentially included in parlays.
