In pursuit of its third consecutive year setting a Thanksgiving Day viewership record, the NFL is sticking to its winning formula for the 2024 Turkey Day lineup.
Kicking off the holiday football feast, the Detroit Lions will once again host a division rival in the early window. This year, the Chicago Bears, featuring No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, will head to Detroit. This clash promises to bring the heat to the Motor City as the Lions look to tame their historic rivals.
Following the Lions-Bears showdown, the Dallas Cowboys will take the stage in the 4:30 p.m. ET slot on FOX, hosting the New York Giants for the second time in three seasons on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys-Giants matchup is set to rekindle their fierce rivalry and deliver another classic, as fans across the nation tune in for this marquee showdown.
Capping off the Thanksgiving tripleheader, the Green Bay Packers will host the Miami Dolphins in the prime-time slot at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. This marks the Packers’ second consecutive Thanksgiving appearance, promising an electric evening as they face off against the high-flying Dolphins.
Last year, the NFL’s Thanksgiving games shattered viewership records, including streaming numbers. The Packers-Lions early game attracted a staggering 33.7 million viewers, the highest ever for an early-window Thanksgiving game. The Cowboys’ clash with the Washington Commanders drew 41.8 million viewers, trailing only the Cowboys-Giants game from the previous year. The prime-time matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers averaged 26.9 million viewers, the most for a Thanksgiving night game since 2015.
Building on this momentum, the NFL will continue the festivities with a Black Friday game, airing in the afternoon on Prime Video. In 2024, the Las Vegas Raiders will take on the Kansas City Chiefs, promising another thrilling chapter in this storied rivalry.
