2024 NFL Week 7 Preview: Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans vs. Green Bay Packers – Betting Insights and Fantasy Football Picks
Week 7 brings us some exciting matchups with plenty of fantasy football implications and betting opportunities. Let’s break down the key players, matchups, and betting elements for the games between the Titans and Bills, and the Texans and Packers.
Tennessee Titans vs. Bills: A One-Sided Affair?
The Titans travel to Buffalo to face the Bills, and as of now, there’s still a question mark over whether Will Levis or another quarterback will start for Tennessee. Regardless of who’s under center, the game looks tilted heavily in Buffalo’s favor. With the Bills playing at home and led by a dominant Josh Allen, Tennessee is in for a tough day. The question for fantasy managers is: which Titans players are even worth starting?
Fantasy Outlook: Who Can You Trust on the Titans?
With Buffalo boasting a strong defense, it’s hard to confidently recommend any Titans players outside of DeAndre Hopkins. Even Hopkins, who has struggled to put up consistent numbers, is a tough start unless you’re in a deeper league. The Titans’ offense has been inconsistent all year, and facing a tough Buffalo defense doesn’t bode well for big fantasy points.
Tony Pollard could be the one player worth considering if you’re desperate for a running back, as he’s likely to get enough volume to have a reasonable floor, but his upside is limited against a strong Bills front. Ultimately, it’s hard to trust any Titans player in a game where they could be playing from behind for the majority of the contest.
Buffalo Bills: Start Your Studs
For Buffalo, this game should be a fantasy goldmine. Allen is a must-start, and he should put up significant points against a Titans defense that has been vulnerable. James Cook remains a solid RB2 play, especially in PPR formats, and Dalton Kincaid looks like a strong tight end option this week. With tight ends being such a thin position this season, Kincaid’s involvement in the red zone gives him great potential.
While Amari Cooper may not play a full complement of snaps, he’s worth keeping an eye on, but for now, it’s safer to stick with other Bills offensive weapons like Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir if Cooper is limited.
Betting Element: Bills Should Roll
Betting-wise, the Bills are heavy favorites in this game, and for good reason. With Tennessee’s quarterback situation uncertain and their offense struggling, it’s hard to see them keeping pace. The Bills should cover the spread comfortably, and the over/under could come down to how much Tennessee contributes to the score. Buffalo’s team total over is a tempting bet if you believe the Titans won’t be able to stop Allen and company.
Houston Texans vs. Green Bay Packers: High-Scoring Potential
In another intriguing Week 7 matchup, the Texans face the Packers. Both teams feature young quarterbacks and offenses that can put up points, and this game has the potential to be one of the higher-scoring contests of the week.
Houston Texans: Dalton Schultz and Tank Dell in Play
The Texans’ offense has been quietly effective this season, led by C.J. Stroud. Even though Nico Collins is out, Dalton Schultz steps in as a key target for Stroud and could be a solid option at tight end. Schultz has found a groove over the past few weeks, and with Collins out, his usage could spike even higher.
Dameon Pierce also remains a decent RB2 or flex option, especially if the Texans lean more on the run game to balance out their offense. Tank Dell, if healthy, should be a viable option in deeper leagues or DFS given his big-play ability.
Green Bay Packers: Can You Trust the Receivers?
The Packers’ offense, led by Jordan Love, has been up and down, but the potential for a high-scoring game makes this an interesting matchup for fantasy. The challenge with Green Bay is that their receiving corps is riddled with injuries. Romeo Doubs is the safest bet to start, as he’s the only healthy receiver among a questionable group that includes Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks.
If you’re setting DFS lineups or need a flex play in deeper leagues, Doubs is the safest option. However, the Packers’ passing attack remains unpredictable due to the rotating cast of receivers. Tight end Tucker Kraft also enters the conversation as a potential play, but he’s more touchdown-dependent.
Betting Element: Expect Points
Vegas expects this to be a high-scoring game, and there’s good reason to agree. The over/under on total points is one of the higher lines on the board, and both teams should be able to move the ball. Houston’s young offense, led by Stroud, will likely put up points, while Green Bay, despite its inconsistency, should find success against a Texans defense that has given up its share of big plays.
If you’re looking to bet on individual performances, Schultz‘s props for receptions or receiving yards might offer good value, as he’s likely to see an increased workload without Collins. Similarly, betting on Love to exceed his passing yards total is another appealing option given the game’s potential shootout nature.
Betting Takeaway: Bills Roll, Texans vs. Packers Should Shoot Out
In Week 7, the Bills are heavy favorites over the Titans, and they should cover the spread comfortably. For fantasy managers, start your Bills and be cautious with the Titans. In the Texans vs. Packers matchup, expect points to pile up on both sides, making it a great game for fantasy and betting overs. With key players like Schultz and Doubs stepping into prominent roles, there are plenty of exciting options in this high-scoring contest.
