Building on a Strong Foundation: NFL’s Continued Support for NCPG
This new grant follows the NFL’s previous three-year, $6.2 million grant awarded in 2021, which was the largest in NCPG’s history. The additional $6.4 million will enable NCPG to expand its initiatives, continuing the momentum built over the past three years. Anna Isaacson, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with NCPG is vital to supporting responsible gambling initiatives. We are excited to continue leveraging our platform to raise awareness and prevent problem gambling.”

Key Initiatives Funded by the NFL
The NFL’s funding will support three major NCPG initiatives:
-
Modernization of the National Problem Gambling Helpline: The helpline (1-800-GAMBLER) will receive further upgrades to enhance its efficiency and accessibility nationwide. The NFL’s support will ensure that callers receive high-quality care, no matter where they are located.
-
Expansion of the Agility Grants Program: This program focuses on reaching underserved communities at higher risk of gambling problems. The NFL’s contribution will help fund innovative prevention programs, particularly targeting youth and communities disproportionately affected by problem gambling.
-
Awareness Campaigns: Continued promotion of the ResponsiblePlay.org website will educate the public on responsible gambling practices and provide resources for those seeking help.
Impact of the NFL-NCPG Partnership So Far
Since the partnership began in 2021, significant progress has been made in modernizing the National Problem Gambling Helpline. The helpline has seen a 104% increase in usage from 2020 to 2023, thanks to enhanced technology, increased staffing, and improved data collection. The Agility Grants program has also made a substantial impact, providing nearly $1 million in grants to 26 problem gambling prevention projects across 17 states, reaching over 40,000 individuals.
Looking Ahead: A Future Focused on Responsible NFL Gambling
With the renewed partnership, the NFL and NCPG are poised to build on their successes and explore new ways to minimize gambling-related harm. Keith Whyte, NCPG Executive Director, expressed gratitude for the NFL’s ongoing support, highlighting the importance of their collaboration in advancing responsible gambling initiatives. The continuation of this partnership promises to make a lasting impact on individuals and communities across the country.
