NFL Panic Meter: Which Teams Should Worry After Week 5 Results

Buffalo Bills
After posting a 3-0 record through Week 3, the Buffalo Bills have now lost two games in a row to the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. Both of these losses were to AFC contenders, but you'd still have liked for them to pick up at least one win in those games. It wasn't a banner showing from Josh Allen in Week 5 on the road, but I don't think there's a ton of reason to panic with him. The big thing now for the Bills is figuring out what this team is. Are they a real contender in the AFC, or a notch below?

San Francisco 49ers
There are some real question marks with this version of the San Francisco 49ers. Is this a Super Bowl hangover? Are the injuries too much to overcome? The 49ers haven't looked like the contending team we expected. The reigning NFC champs sit at 2-3 after Week 5, and let another victory inside the NFC West slip away. With the talent that's still suiting up for the 49ers on both sides of the football, we're not going to let the injury excuse hold weight for much longer. This team needs to get its act together, and soon.

New York Jets
Two things can be true: The New York Jets haven't performed up to expectations, and the Minnesota Vikings are a very dangerous football team. Aaron Rodgers doesn't have the mobility he once did, and the Jets are lacking a WR2 behind Garrett Wilson. Can I interest you in Davante Adams? The Jets haven't looked close to being the competent unit we expected on offense. The good news for this team is that no one has run away with the AFC East.

Cincinnati Bengals
Even though the offense has put up 72 points over the last two weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals sit at 1-4 this season. The offense has found its footing, but the defense is still a major work in progress. The Bengals have allowed more than 24 points in each of their last four games, including 41 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5. The offense looks like it can be elite again, but there haven't been any answers on defense. In an AFC North that prides itself on hard nosed football, the Bengals might just be in a hole too big to get out of.

Cleveland Browns
It's hard to figure out what the right solution should be for the Cleveland Browns right now. The obvious answer is to bench Deshaun Watson, but there's more to this than just his play on the football field. Through Week 5, the Browns have looked lifeless on both sides of the football. Whether you want to lay the blame on Watson, the coaching staff, or all of the above, changes are needed in Cleveland. With another loss in Week 5, the Browns season continues to slip away with each passing week.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely somewhere in between the team that started 3-0, and the one that's followed with a pair of losses in a row. The Steelers are very well coached, but they lack a real identity on offense, and that's been a major theme after five games. It's clear that Arthur Smith would like the identity on offense to revolve around running the football, but when your offensive line has been pedestrian, that doesn't exactly go as planned. I think this is still a playoff team, but the re-emergence of the Baltimore Ravens makes me wonder if they'll stay in the mix for the AFC North crown.
