49ers Super Bowl Hopes, Mahomes’ Mobility and Concerns About Jalen Hurts
The San Francisco 49ers were backed to win the Super Bowl, with Brooke Worthy praised for ranking among the best quarterbacks in several important statistics and looking like a complete player.
Mike Evans was highlighted as a tall, physical receiver with sure hands, while Kittles’ return from an Achilles tear was described as surprising. Christian McCaffrey’s consistent touchdown scoring was another reason for calling the 49ers a great team.
The support for San Francisco goes back to childhood and the days of Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice. Montana was placed alongside Tom Brady despite their different statistics because of Montana’s winning mentality.
The conversation then turned to the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks were credited with playing well, while Patrick Mahomes was praised for his decisiveness and deceptive mobility. Although he can look like a traditional dropback quarterback, he can gain yards with his legs, handle contact and slide effectively when he finds an opening.
The segment closed with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were described as being in deep trouble after Jalen Hurts was said to have been ruled out for the rest of the season with blood clots in his lungs. Questions were raised about the circumstances surrounding his authorization to play in London and travel by plane.
Although the Eagles’ medical team was said to have been cleared by the NFL of wrongdoing, the handling of the situation continued to draw criticism. The prediction was that Hurts would eventually sue after retiring and that the London game may have been his final appearance with the Eagles.
