AJ. Brown Reception Props and Primetime Betting Value

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

AJ Brown’s Reception Props Spark Debate Ahead of Primetime Matchup

AJ Brown’s reception total moved from 4.5 to 5.5 ahead of the primetime game against Chicago. He received 10 targets last week but finished with only three receptions, making six catches a difficult target despite the volume.

One view was that Brown should go over 5.5 receptions because the offense is likely to keep trying to involve him on a national stage. If he falls short, it may not be due to a lack of opportunities.

The opposing view was to avoid the reception total until Brown proves he can consistently convert those targets. He appeared to be open last week but failed to complete several potential catches, including two opportunities that could have gained 30 or 40 yards.

That led to interest in Brown’s longest reception prop instead. With the number listed at 25.5 yards, one long completion could be enough to cash the over. However, if Brown drops an early pass, that could be a reason to move away from his props.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of comparing prices on the same sportsbook. On FanDuel, Brown to record five or more receptions was listed at minus 180 under the alternate reception options. Scrolling to his standard total showed over 4.5 receptions at minus 158, offering a better price for the same required result of five catches.

There was also hesitation about expecting Brown to reproduce the numbers he posted with Philadelphia now that he is with New England. Until he delivers the type of six-catch, 100-yard performance he produced regularly in Philadelphia, the preference is to remain cautious about betting on that outcome.
