Bills Face Rams Shorthanded in Monday Night Matchup

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Injuries Put Pressure on Josh Allen and the Bills Against the Rams

The Buffalo Bills enter Monday night’s game against the Rams without several key players. Leading receiver DJ Moore and Palmer are unavailable, while defensive back Alfred Dee Alford and defensive lineman Ed Oliver will also miss the game.

Oliver’s absence creates a significant concern in the middle of Buffalo’s defense. The Bills struggled after he left the New England game, and their lack of depth in the middle could become a problem if Kyron Williams and Coorum establish the Rams’ running game.

Meanwhile, the Rams are getting healthier. Aaron Donald is back and available on the defensive line, while Watson, acquired from Kansas City, returns to the secondary. The Rams enter the matchup healthier and more rested than Buffalo.

With Buffalo missing its top two starting receivers, Josh Allen, James Cook and Kincaid could carry a larger share of the offense. The Bills may rely heavily on their tight ends, while Cook could receive more opportunities in the running game.

Despite the injuries, the lean remains toward Buffalo because Allen is viewed as the best player on the field and consistently keeps the Bills competitive. However, there is concern that Joe Brady could ask Allen to do too much. Allen has already taken too many hits, particularly on quarterback sneaks near the goal line.

Cook has produced big games when given 15 to 20 carries. When Buffalo moves away from him, the offense tends to become more dependent on Allen creating a late play. Giving Cook a larger role could help protect Allen and keep the Bills’ offense balanced.
