Chargers Due for an ATS Breakthrough Against Kansas City
The line is moving toward the Chargers, which is difficult to understand given Andy Reid’s success coming off a bye. Still, the Chargers are 0-5 against the spread, and that streak has to end eventually. A matchup against a division rival could be where it happens.
The Chargers are not going to finish 0-17 against the spread, as that would be historic. They cannot afford to fall to 0-6, so this could bring out their biggest effort yet. That does not make the Chargers an easy pick, but they are bound to cover at some point.
Miami appears worse than the Chargers and has already covered twice. Tennessee also keeps finding late backdoor covers by putting together drives in the final minute and a half.
A similar scenario could unfold here. Kansas City could lead 31-18 with two minutes remaining before Justin Herbert throws a touchdown pass to secure the cover, even if the game itself is not close. The Chargers’ first cover is coming soon, whether through a strong performance or a late backdoor opportunity. Beating Kansas City, however, would be something else entirely.
