Cleveland Browns Playoff Odds: Bet the AFC North Run?

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Pushing The Odds with Matt Perrault

Browns’ Favorable Schedule Makes Playoff and Division Odds Worth Considering

The Cleveland Browns are 5-2, yet they remain +180 to make the playoffs and +650 to win the division. Their division odds were 10-1 before their latest victory, making the current number significantly less attractive but still worth considering.

Cleveland may look like the best team in the division, although the Cincinnati Bengals still have a strong case. The Bengals have not played their best football, but they showed improvement by rallying for a fantastic second half. Their defense is still coming together, while Joe Burrow, the offense and the running game have endured slow starts.

Betting the Browns at +650 to win the division is not unreasonable, especially as a smaller wager. Their +180 playoff odds are also appealing because the AFC lacks a clearly unbeatable team. Every contender has flaws, leaving an opening for Cleveland.

The Browns are winning behind a defense that has played exceptionally well in several areas. They are doing just enough to secure victories, although their opponents have included Cam Ward, a Lamar Jackson-less Ravens team, the Jets, Steelers, Panthers and Buccaneers. Cleveland also lost to the Jaguars.

The schedule continues to work in the Browns’ favor. After facing the Steelers and Saints, they begin a stretch of four consecutive home games against the Texans, Raiders, Bengals and Falcons. Once Cleveland returns from its road trip on November 8, the team does not leave again until December 20, giving it five straight weeks at home during November and December.

The Browns could still be challenged by teams such as the Bengals, Falcons, Giants and a Ravens team with Lamar Jackson back. However, if Cleveland defeats the Texans after playing the Steelers and Saints, its odds could quickly move toward favorite status in several markets.

That makes the current numbers potentially the best available. Once the odds move in Cleveland’s favor, they may not shift back far or quickly enough to offer comparable value again. A Browns wild-card appearance would reflect both their favorable schedule and the broader state of the AFC.
