Colts Trade Rumors: Fantasy Impact on Taylor and Downs

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Pushing The Odds with Matt Perrault

Jonathan Taylor Expected to Stay as Colts Consider Potential Trades

For fantasy managers holding Jonathan Taylor or other Colts players, a potential Indianapolis sell-off could create new opportunities. However, Taylor may stay because of his new contract, his importance to the franchise and the compensation another team would need to offer for a running back at this point in his career.

If Taylor is traded, Seth McGowan would be in line to become the Colts’ clear workhorse. He has held the RB2 job since training camp and could carry the workload for the rest of the season.

Josh Downs appears more likely to be moved. San Francisco has been mentioned as a possibility on social media, although another potential move for the 49ers would be a reunion with Jauan Jennings. The Vikings have not been using Jennings, and he has been arguing with KOC on the sidelines.

A Sauce Gardner trade appears unlikely because the Colts would not receive a return comparable to what they gave up for him. Keeping him would make more sense.

The two Colts most likely to be traded are Josh Downs and Quenton Nelson. Several teams need significant offensive line help, including the Packers, although it is unclear whether Green Bay would surrender more draft picks. Offensive line play has been poor across the NFL, while injuries have tested several teams’ depth.

Ultimately, Downs and Nelson appear to be the strongest trade candidates, while Taylor will probably remain with the Colts.
