Dallas vs. Philadelphia Betting Picks & Predictions

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Dallas Favored Against a Banged-Up Philadelphia Team

Dallas is laying four points on the road after the line moved from 4.5, suggesting Philadelphia is receiving some support despite relying heavily on backups and reserves. Philadelphia is without its regular quarterback and wide receivers, although Saquon looks ready to play.

Still, trusting Dallas as a road favorite is a frightening proposition. Philadelphia is difficult to bet on or against because injuries have made it hard to know what this team is or how it will play. The safest decision may be to pass on the game completely.

If forced to make a side bet, the lean would be Dallas minus the points. However, backing Dallas could mean sweating the game into the fourth quarter and wondering why you trusted them. Dallas may be favored in roughly half of its games over the course of the season, but the expectation is that it will cover only about 40% to 45% of those opportunities. Even if Dallas covers tonight, the approach should still be to oppose the Cowboys the next time they are in this position.

Saquon Barkley should give Philadelphia a boost, but asking the Eagles to score three touchdowns feels unreasonable. Philadelphia’s team total under is appealing because the Eagles may need to rely on their defense. With no Devonta Smith, AJ Brown no longer on the team and few reliable receivers available, the offense has limited options.

Dallas Goedert could be heavily targeted as Philadelphia’s primary weapon. Rather than betting on his receiving yards, the better angle may be his receptions, with six or seven catches looking attainable.

Dallas should be capable of going into Philadelphia and winning comfortably, but similar expectations existed against Washington and Tampa Bay, and the Cowboys lost both games. Even if Dallas wins 31-17, one result should not change the long-term approach to betting against the Cowboys in this spot.

The Monday night underdog has historically hit at about 60%, but Philadelphia is still too difficult to trust with so many unfamiliar receivers, linemen and defenders. Team totals and player props may be the best options for this matchup.
