Dolphins vs. Jets Odds, Picks and Best Player Props

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From NFL Pro Football Today

Dolphins-Jets Betting Outlook Highlights Player Props and Miami’s Upset Potential

The Miami Dolphins enter their matchup with the New York Jets as the NFL’s only winless team, but unusual things often happen when these teams meet. The Jets are favored by roughly 3.5 to 4 points, depending on the sportsbook, with the total sitting below 40 at around 39.5.

Although the Dolphins have played poorly, they have covered the spread in two consecutive games. One view was that Miami would be the only possible side to bet, but Malik Willis’s quarterback play made even that difficult to support. The Jets could win comfortably, making a pass on the game the preferred approach.

The opposing view identified value in Miami’s player props. Ollie Gordon’s rushing-yard line opened at 50.5 before moving to 57.5 as bettors backed the over. That movement could create an opportunity for a ladder bet, starting near the listed total and extending through 60, 70 and as high as 100 rushing yards. Wagers can be reduced at each higher level while targeting increasingly larger plus-money returns.

Caleb Douglas was another prop target after returning healthy. He emerged as a reliable safety-net option for Willis during the preseason and the opening weeks before his injury. With his receptions line at 2.5, he was projected to catch at least three passes, with five or six considered possible. He was also viewed as Miami’s primary target ahead of Bell and Malik Washington.

Coming off a bye, the Dolphins were considered capable of covering the spread and potentially winning outright. That outlook was also based on the Jets’ tendency to create opportunities for opponents, even in games New York has won, including its recent matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

One bettor had previously taken the under on Miami’s 3.5-win total but cashed out after being offered roughly 80% of the potential return. Part of that money could now be reinvested in the Dolphins through Gordon and Douglas props, along with a possible Miami money-line wager.

The Jets were still acknowledged as the team that should win, but their inconsistency created hesitation. Braylin Allen was also substituted for Gordon in one lineup after Allen was identified as the Jets’ only available option. Ultimately, concerns about Willis remained central, with his statistical performance through five games described as the worst by a Dolphins quarterback in team history.
