Lamar Jackson's Status Shapes Browns-Ravens Betting Line

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Lamar Jackson’s Status Shapes Browns-Ravens Betting Outlook

Reports indicate that Lamar Jackson could return to practice soon and may be under center against the Browns. However, the current 5.5-point line does not necessarily suggest that the market expects him to play. If his return appeared certain, the line would likely be closer to seven points.

More clarity should come Sunday, when the final line could move to six or 6.5 points. For now, the market appears to be accounting for some uncertainty about Jackson’s availability.

The Browns may be my pick this week, but I will wait until Friday to decide. Cleveland is in a buy-low position, and that is an opportunity I typically look for.

Based on the past 10 years of Browns-Ravens football, I believe Cleveland will beat Baltimore at some point this season. Even when the Browns have struggled, they have found ways to defeat the Ravens. It could happen this week or when the teams meet again in Baltimore.

There was also a season when Baltimore opened against Miami, scored around 70 points and immediately generated Super Bowl talk, only to lose to the Browns at home. I am prepared to bet heavily on Cleveland beating Baltimore again this season, although I am not yet certain it will happen this week.
