Steelers-Saints in Paris and a Low-Scoring Cleveland-Tennessee Matchup
The action begins early in Paris with the Steelers facing the Saints. New Orleans has been there for the week, while Pittsburgh arrived later. The Steelers remain three-point favorites.
There is reason for confidence in Pittsburgh’s offense. Aaron Rodgers has developed something with rookie Bernard, and the Steelers are running the ball well. Their experience could also play a factor against a young Saints team making an overseas trip. From that perspective, Pittsburgh can win the game comfortably.
The opposing view leans toward New Orleans. Pittsburgh has alternated wins and losses, and even its victory over Tampa Bay required a comeback after being dominated in the first half. The Steelers appear to be the better team, but they have struggled to put together back-to-back games or even back-to-back quarters.
Confidence in the Saints is also low. New Orleans has been having an anonymous season and is unlikely to win its division or finish at .500. Still, playing at a neutral site and getting points could make this a favorable spot. The lean is toward the Saints keeping it close, although the matchup may ultimately be a pass.
Cleveland and Tennessee offer another difficult matchup, with a particularly low total despite no weather concerns. The Titans have consistently covered spreads, even while Cam Ward has struggled. When Tennessee gets 10 points, Ward has still been able to keep the team competitive late.
Tennessee is not considered a good team, but Cleveland may be one of the NFL’s most overrated teams. Cleveland has been winning with defense, much like Minnesota in the NFC. That formula may not produce a deep run, but it can lead to plenty of regular-season victories.
Cleveland is expected to win, but Tennessee covering remains in play. Salah has done a good job with the Titans’ defense, while the offense has failed to deliver. Ward was excellent in college at Miami but has not shown the same form, and Tennessee’s repeated coaching and coordinator changes have not helped.
The low total reflects the expected style of the game, although defensive scores and short fields could make 38 points attainable. Either way, the matchup is expected to be ugly.
