Patriots Favored to Deliver Against Bears as Caleb Williams Presents a Long-Shot MVP Bet
Two 4-2 teams meet in what could be a high-scoring game. The Bears have weathered injuries at quarterback, while the Patriots have overcome a tougher schedule and uneven quarterback play. New England has turned things around over the past three weeks and enters as a three-point underdog.
The Patriots are the pick to win by a touchdown. They have won three straight and rank second in the league on third down over that span. Meanwhile, Chicago’s recent third-down success may be difficult to sustain. The Bears struggled to maintain possession against the Jets and could not generate much against the Eagles.
If New England consistently moves the chains, Chicago may have trouble getting the Patriots off the field. Although the Bears’ defense has allowed plenty of yards and points, the game still features intriguing players on both sides, including Drake May and Caleb Williams.
For those backing Chicago but unwilling to pay the juice, Caleb Williams at 65-to-1 to win league MVP offers another angle. If the Bears defeat New England and then beat Seattle on Monday Night Football the following week, they could build momentum in an open NFC North race.
Those victories would move Chicago to 6-2 before games against the Bucks, Saints, Lions, Jags, Dolphins, Bills and Packers. The Bears could quickly accumulate wins, making the current MVP price unlikely to last. A win tonight could shorten the odds, while another victory next week could cut the price in half.
Williams is not in position to win the award right now, especially after Chicago’s uneven start and his injury. However, if the Bears defeat both teams that played in the Super Bowl a year ago, win 12 or 13 games and capture the division, the 65-to-1 price could prove reasonable.
New England also looks like a playoff team. The Patriots have winnable divisional games against Miami and New York, although the matchups with Buffalo will be difficult. Drake May is playing like a top-10 or top-12 quarterback, while Christian Gonzalez strengthens the defensive backfield.
If the Patriots can improve their running game and AJ Brown starts catching the ball more consistently, they can do enough on both sides to win double-digit games and reach the playoffs.
