Rams Updated Super Bowl Odds & Myles Garrett Return Timeline

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Pushing The Odds with Matt Perrault

Rams’ Super Bowl Odds and a Potential Timeline for Miles Garrett’s Return

The Rams are 2-3, but there is still interest in backing them to win the Super Bowl if their odds reach 10-1. Those odds may be close, although this could be the best available price before the team enters a lighter portion of its schedule.

Bet Online recently listed the 49ers as the Super Bowl favorites. Meanwhile, the Rams have upcoming games against the Arizona Cardinals twice, the 0-5 Chargers and the Raiders. That schedule could allow Los Angeles to put together four or five consecutive wins, causing its championship odds to move back toward the preseason price of approximately plus 800.

The Rams have struggled at 2-3 and have made changes on special teams, including firing their punter and hiring a new place kicker. Those issues have contributed to the longer odds currently available.

The broader view is that even talented favorites are not guaranteed postseason success. The Dodgers may have the talent and starting pitching, but the season has not felt as favorable for them as previous years. The breaks and luck have not fallen the same way, with the Brewers or Rays potentially carrying that feeling instead. For now, the field may still be preferable to the Rams.

As for Miles Garrett, nothing unexpected appears to be happening. He underwent a knee procedure on the Monday after the team returned from Australia, and the initial recovery timeline was six weeks before he could test the knee in practice, put weight on it, turn and handle the torque required to play.

Starting his return clock would give the Rams 20 days to activate him, which would require a roster spot. Although he became eligible to return after four weeks, beginning that process too early could force the team to use a roster spot before he is ready to play.

The return clock could begin within the next one or two weeks, possibly toward the end of next week. Week 9, when the Rams travel to Washington to play the Commanders, stands out as a possible target for his return to game action. The priority is ensuring that Garrett is fully healthy, avoids setbacks and can contribute when he returns.
