Texans-Giants & Jets-Dolphins Week 7 Game Predictions

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

C.J. Stroud’s Resurgence and a Jets-Dolphins Prediction

The Texans appear to be following a familiar pattern. After another poor start, C.J. Stroud is beginning to play well, and Houston looks like it is getting back into form. The Giants, meanwhile, have a winning record and are considering a move at quarterback after what J.J. McCarthy did last week in relief of Jameis Winston.

Although the Giants are in the mix in the NFC East, the division remains tightly packed. McCarthy is unlikely to maintain the remarkable four-quarter pace he showed last week, making this a potential bounce-back opportunity for Houston’s defense.

The Texans’ defense has not yet reached the elite level expected of it. Houston shut down Tennessee, but the more important storyline is Stroud’s return to form. If he continues playing at a high level, the Texans could dominate the Giants and move closer to .500 after a brutal start.

Houston still has the potential to field a top-10 defense, while Stroud could settle into the quarterback range of eight to 12. With Nico Collins, Jalen Noel and an effective running game, the Texans could become dangerous if they build confidence. Houston enters the matchup as a 10.5-point favorite and could carry momentum into the bye week.

The Jets-Dolphins matchup may not be an entertaining watch, but Miami is coming off its bye. Ollie Gordon has helped stabilize the running game, and Malik Willis could show growth with more time. The larger concern is whether Miami can get enough defensive stops.

For the Jets, Omar Cooper returned last week and caught a touchdown while having another score wiped off the board. Braylon Allen continues to contribute, and Geno Smith may simply need to avoid losing the game against Miami.

With the projected total below 40 points, a high-scoring contest is not expected. The prediction is a 24-17 Jets victory, giving Chris a win to enjoy from the stands on a sunny day in New York.
