Week 7 Picks: 49ers-Falcons and Rams-Raiders Predictions

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

49ers and Rams Get the Picks Despite Injuries and Early-Season Concerns

The 49ers continue to overcome a long list of injuries, reaching 6-0 despite a roster that does not seem to line up with their results. Mike Evans is not expected to play this week after looking like a shell of himself before leaving during the first half last week. With a bye coming next week, there is little reason to rush him back. Christian Kirk could return, while Deshaun Stribling is expected to be available.

San Francisco’s success may feel like smoke and mirrors, but it is Kyle Shanahan’s smoke and mirrors. The results make it difficult to pick against the 49ers, even if the math and available roster suggest otherwise.

Michael Pennick is trending in the right direction for Atlanta, relying on a simple plan of getting the ball to his top players. Bajon Robinson and Drake London have handled much of the production, while Kyle Pitts became involved late during last week’s comeback attempt.

Neither team has been completely convincing, but Shanahan’s ability to keep San Francisco winning makes the 49ers the pick.

The Rams and Raiders present another intriguing matchup. Los Angeles enters at 2-4, while Las Vegas is 3-3 and owns the better record. Few would have expected that situation heading into this game, which has become a must-win for the Rams.

The Rams’ four losses before Halloween represent a remarkable downturn, especially after last week’s defeat against the Cardinals. Devonte Adams is also expected to miss more than two months, adding another moving piece to the situation.

Despite those concerns, the Rams still have the loaded roster that made them Super Bowl favorites entering the season. Rosters alone do not win games, however, and the results have not matched the expectations.

Matthew Stafford gets the trust over Kirk Cousins, and a 3.5-point spread is not considered excessive, even with the game in Las Vegas and the Rams having lost four of six. The pick is Los Angeles to cover and begin righting the ship, while the Raiders appear to be trending in the wrong direction.
