The Longhorns are the fifth-best rushing defense in the country but Oklahoma State will have to find a way to puncture that wall. Gordon against the Texas front is the marquee matchup.
3. Win In The Red Zone
The Texas Longhorns are in the bottom third of the country in red zone scoring percentage. Even when the offense performs well, the Longhorns struggle in the red zone. Oklahoma State has to take advantage of that and steal points in the red zone. Oklahoma State is only 70th in red zone defense and will need to outperform that ranking to pull off the upset.
4. No Big Runs
The Texas Longhorns have a good offense but it is not elite, particularly if the opposing defense can force them to methodically move down the field. Preventing big plays is a key for the Cowboys. That was something Texas Tech failed to do last week and it backfired spectacularly as Texas put up 57 points. Oklahoma State must eliminate big plays for the Longhorns offense.
