West Coast: Saint Mary's (+115)
West Coast: Saint Mary's (+115) This is a clear fade of Gonzaga in a league where one of these teams has won for the past 21 seasons. The sizeable 32-team gap over at KenPom between the two programs is far too large and allows you a decent price on the Gaels to reign supreme over a Bulldogs team with a few questions coming into the season. Guard Aidan Mahaney is a bonafide star, and even if it was against a non-Division I opponent, their 107-28 victory over Cal State Stanislaus shows how dominant they can be on a given night.
Top Mid-Major College Basketball Conference Winners 2023-24
College hoops is underway, and it's time to get into the weeds on some futures bets so we can find some value. As we embark on another season on the hardwood, it's time to talk about a few conference winner picks at the mid-major level over at the FanDuel Sportsbook.
American: Memphis (+170)
American: Memphis (+170) We'll take the underdogs in what appears to be a two-horse race in the American between the Tigers and FAU. The Owls are an incredibly talented team, but you are buying them at their peak as they sit at a short +120 price to take home the regular season title. We see plenty of value in the Tigers, with many talented transfers coming into the program that will only build more chemistry with time. This team has the goods to keep pace with the Owls and quickly put things together.
Atlantic 10: Dayton (+500)
Atlantic 10: Dayton (+500) DaRon Holmes is the best player you have never heard of in college hoops. The 6'10" junior forward is an elite rim protector who scores and rebounds at an efficient clip, shooting over 61 percent throughout his career. He's a legitimate All-American candidate this season and provides the Flyers with potentially the best player in the conference. He's surrounded by enough upperclassmen, talent, and coaching that can make Dayton a dark horse candidate to take home the Atlantic 10 regular-season title this year.
Mountain West: Colorado State (+1000)
Mountain West: Colorado State (+1000) This is our long shot of the group. All five Colorado State starters are seniors led by fifth-year star point guard Isaiah Stevens, who will contend for Mountain West Player of the Year and perhaps All-American recognition. His scoring pop and an incredibly efficient assist-to-turnover ratio make him invaluable to their offense. We are shocked to see the Rams at such a high price, and we're not convinced that the teams listed above them are that much better at the end of the day. This is a price you should get on before it's too late.
