Liam Doyle, LHP – Tennessee
Liam Doyle has been the most dominant pitcher in college baseball this season. After starting at Coastal Carolina in 2023 and spending 2024 at Ole Miss, Doyle is thriving with the top-ranked Tennessee Volunteers. In Knoxville, Tennessee's developmental program has boosted Doyle's velocity. His fastball, which averaged 92.5 mph and maxed out at 95.1 mph last year, now averages 95 mph and has reached 99 mph.
Despite facing less challenging opponents, Doyle's success has been impossible to ignore. He has pitched 20 1/3 innings in four starts, striking out a nation-leading 47 hitters (69.1%) while allowing only five walks, six hits, and one earned run. He boasts a minuscule 0.44 ERA, and opponents are hitting just .095 against him.
While sustaining this dominance through the SEC schedule will be tough, Doyle has a legitimate shot at matching or surpassing Paul Skenes' 2023 campaign. Tennessee's strong postseason aspirations also boost his case. Doyle's upcoming start against the No. 6 Florida Gators will be a key test of his ability to maintain this form against elite competition.
